Beauty is...

beauty is...

mmm...beauty....

beauty is all there is,

except the most of us don't have the eyes to see.

we are blinder then a blind man.

we don't know what beauty is even if

it is staring at us in the face.

we are blinded by prejudices,

preconceived ideas, social conditioning, media programming.

Beauty is all there is,

it is in everything we see.

we knew it when we were a little kid,

when everything we beheld filled us with wonder

until we were told off for lingering too long on the side of the road

staring at a dandelion,

until we were told to never touch that bug or

pick up rubbishes on the ground

until we were told we looked absolutely ridiculous in that dress

and that

we'd better do something with those freckles....

slowly....beauty disappeared.....

and nothing is ever good enough again

everything could always be better.....

a better dress, better car, better house, better partner, better world....

but beauty never went away,

it is still here,

staring at us in the face

patiently waiting

for us

to

see

again

How true, the beauty of what is, becomes displaced by the desire to become something 'better'. Enjoyed this, thank you :-))

Hi Vallypoet, thank you for dropping by. I for one is cursed by having to be "better", I think it's a human disease. You don't hear the animal or the plant world talking about having to be "better". In fact, every time I look at God's creation, I marvel and wonder at tis incredible perfection. I am God's creation, therefore I am an incredible perfection (let's see how long it takes for me to forget that, lol).
