Before The Morning Light

Bright Memories

The dawn was still dark

like an old dog's bark

When a mother gave birth

to her first born daughter

A thousand miles from there

A boy couldn't help but stare

At his new, green bike

he got for his fifth birthday

Somewhere in the south

they could hear people shout

For the fear of their lives

as guns were shot around them

Back where I am today

I just hope and pray

That the old friend of mine

now can rest in peace

Sometimes I forget

and then I count to seven

Until i realize

he's now in heaven

He's probably laughing and joking

just like he used to do

About drinking and smoking

and he's making me smile, too

He moved on

Before the sun was rising

Before the child was born

Before the boy's fifth birthday

Before people feared for their lives

Before everyone woke up

And before the morning light

Live --- laugh --- love

while you are here

And you memories will stay bright

Vinaya, I'm still struggling to find the right words in English, when I write poems. I hope this one is okay. Thank you so much for your kind comment.

Lovely piece--there is something so vulnerable in it--and that really makes the piece work for me--

What a challenge to take your emotions and thoughts and arrange them in another culture's words. I congratulate you Made, you achieve in English what I would not even attempt to do in Swedish.

Thank you for a lovely and enigmatic piece. =:)

Thank you Sannel, sometimes we forget to live today, right now in this moment. We never get this moment back and that's why we need to make the most out of it. I really appreciate your kind comment.
