Behind The Doors

On 21st July it all began

when she slammed the car door,

pushed the pedal and off she ran.

On 23rd July she was back again

she closed another door

what happened then?

Behind the doors:

The music was loud

People were dancing

People were laughing

People were drinking.

She was ... no wait a minute,

there HE was!

Their story continued and

when the music finally stopped

she was getting drunk

on his sweet, soft kisses.

On 25th July they had to say goodbye

and with tears in his blue eyes

he said to her: ”don't you cry”.

On 27th July she didn't know

if the exploding love they'd just found

would start to fade or grow.

The distance would keep them apart

between their short meetings

between the hugs and the kisses

between the whispers of true love

between the people they would meet.

She knew it would not last

and he was the one who said it.

And when the music continued

their story finally stopped

and she was getting drunk

on drinks that made her forget.

On 29th of July in another time and place

the destiny made them meet again

and she could still see love in his face.

After all these years with

So many tears

So many broken hearts

and his hair turning grey

there was still passion between the two

and so many words still to say.

On 31st of July they were back together again

but once again she closed the door

and once again off she ran.

Too afraid of her own feelings

one old woman laid in her bed

thinking of her life

and those she had loved

and with one last wish:

to see what's behind that door.

And as she closed her eyes

she saw him standing there

waiting for her

at that golden gate.

Behind those golden doors

they would find an eternity

that they would spend together.

On 1st August the doors were finally closing

and they would never open again

to their previous life on earth.

A nice tribute to what might have been, only if the door had not been closed. I liked your style in this work and it was well received. whonu

Whonunuwho, thank you. I'm still trying to figure out how to write poetry. I'm not sure if I'm reallysatisfied with this poem, but I'm glad you liked it. :)

True love won in the end. Now safely behind the golden doors of Heaven, their love will never die! I see I have a completely different interpretation of your poem than whonu. Hmmmm.

Bill, at first this poem ended with the woman taking her life, but that was too dramatic and sad, so I rewrote it and made the story a little longer. Thank you!

The thing about poe-tree is just to relax and be yourself and whatever you do - don't follow tradition and become boring - branch out and push the boundaries and dare to be different - also write with your heart and the mind will always follow - and you have done all of that here, my friend, so bravo or hubbravo from the epi-man.

You are a true original and this poetic piece speaks volumes.

lake erie time ontario canada 4:30am and sending you warm wishes and good energy

Captivating and beautiful. I like poetry that is understandable like this one, emotionally moving and deep. Very nice.
