Best Revenue Sharing Sites for Freelance Article Writing
Write Articles and Earn Passive Income
Writing articles for established revenue-sharing sites is still a good way to produce passive income online. The biggest advantage of using revenue-sharing sites is the ability to make money without having to create your own website, or spend money.
Another major advantage of submitting content to well established revenue-sharing sites is being able to tap into the massive source of existing traffic. Most of the well known sites already have a lot of traffic, as well as a high page rank, which makes it easier to get page views and make money faster with your content.
It is a bad idea to have your online passive income come primarily from revenue sharing sites, but it's a good way for beginners to get started. A good strategy is to write articles for sites that pay up front, while also publishing articles on revenue sharing sites. That way, you can earn immediate income from the sites with up front pay and steadily grow a monthly stream of passive income at the same time.
I have used quite a few revenue sharing sites, but I believe Hubpages is probably one of the best places to earn passive income from article writing. I joined Hubpages over 2 years ago, but I didn't start actively writing articles until shortly after their ad program rolled out.
The Hubpages ad program is probably the best way to earn passive income from the site, at least for me, but some people do really well with Adsense, or selling Amazon and Ebay products. Adsense doesn't seem to work well for me on Hubpages. I do like the ad program the most because it pays steadily, without the huge fluctuation in earnings that often occur with Adsense.
Hubpages is a massive site with an enormous amount of traffic. Hubpages is on the list of the 50 most visited websites in the world. After publishing a hub, page views begin to show up on the stats page less than one minute later. If you choose keywords and topics that aren't overly saturated, it is pretty easy to get a hub to the front page of Google, with good SEO.
Suite101 is a well known Canada-based site that first began in 1996. Since that time, the company has gone international and created additional websites for France, Germany and Spain. The Suite101 revenue sharing model is currently a combination of Adsense and pay per page impression. Their revenue sharing option is currently the only way to make money from the site.
In 2010, Suite101 traffic decreased significantly as a result of the Google search engine changes. My earnings on the site dropped big time during that time, but have started to bounce back a lot since then. Prior to the unfortunate Google changes, I was making a decent amount of money every month from my articles. Suite101, like Hubpages, started assigning sub-domains for writers.
Suite101 is currently making big improvements to their revenue sharing program, as well as a complete re-design of their website. The changes are expected to be completed by the end of July of this year (2012), according to their website. Suite101 is still a good place to submit content for passive income and that will likely improve after the revamping of their revenue sharing platform is completed.
Like Hubpages, Suite101 gets tons of traffic daily, but the difference between the two is that, on Suite101, linking to affiliate products is forbidden. Hubpages provides more than one way to make money, while Suite101 does not. One thing I do like about Suite101 is that they give you a 10% increase in shared revenue after publishing 50 articles. They used to have another increase after publishing 100 articles, but I'm not sure if they do that anymore.
Suite101 is far better than sites like Triond and Bukisa in my opinion. It is worth checking out. If you write quality articles on a daily basis, you will earn passive income over time, but it doesn't happen overnight. I still receive a PayPal payment from them every month from articles I wrote almost two years ago.
In order to write articles for Suite101, you have to apply with a writing sample. They have also tightened their writing standards in the past year, so if there's a problem with your content, an editor will pull your article and request changes.
Factoidz is a versatile article writing site where you can earn passive income from published content pretty fast. Unlike Suite101 and other 'content farms', Factoidz wasn't annihilated by the Google algorithm change, due to their strict writing guidelines. Factoidz is unique because, like Hubpages, it provides more than way to make money and you retain rights to your content.
On Factoidz, it is possible to earn revenue sharing from article page views, $5 up-front article payments for well written reviews, money from getting referrals and even money for building contextual backlinks to the site. It is possible to get promoted to staff writer and earn up to $20 for writing reviews. Factoidz only accepts well written content from experts. All content must be factual, up to date and accurate.
Factoidz pays an up-front bonus each time you publish an article. The bonus is in addition to the revenue sharing for page views, which pays for every 1,000 page views. There is no cap for the amount of passive income you can earn.
Factoidz is an excellent place to earn passive income as well as up-front payments. It is one of the more challenging places to write for because content must be well written and pass through an editor. It is really important to closely follow the rules and quality guidelines of the site otherwise you could be flagged and banned pretty easily.
