Blue Balloon...a poem
This poem is sadly inspired by my nephew Jordan Scott Ridgeway who very recently passed away from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome at the tender age of 3 months.
Bright blue like your eyes
Sparkling against the rain
It rises higher into the dark skies
Far from the touch of pain
Far from a mothers hand
And a fathers loving heart
Both struggling to understand
As the balloon slowly departs
So young to be set free
A Mother’s dreams shattered
Soaring over the old trees
The blue balloon never faltered
Rising high to the heavens
Carried on winds of love and belief
Far from the small white coffin
Surrounded by tears and grief
It soars on out of sight
Filled with a mothers last goodbyes
Untouched by wrong or right
Or the sound of heartbroken cries
So take this last gift with you
A blue balloon to make you smile
Symbol of love so true
To carry you that last mile

It hurts when I look at you You chin raised so high So full of self-virtue You don’t hear my cry Your eyes full of judgement As you survey around Your lips spill your disappointment ...
