Still The Waters

"Nature doesn't create a storm that never ends; within misfortune, good fortune hides" (Lao-tzu).
"Nature doesn't create a storm that never ends; within misfortune, good fortune hides" (Lao-tzu).

"Still The Waters" is a perfect metaphor for how we can calm the storms we experience in our personal lives by riding the waves of spiritual awakening, no matter your religion. God never created a storm meant to last forever and we can feel assured the turbulence will pass; usually not without a hidden lesson. Only, what if one gets stuck and can't figure out the lesson and the storm returns again and again? What if our own thought patterns are the cause of our storms elevating them to tidal waves? That's when it's most vital to "still the waters" of our noisy minds. There are a multitude of methods to help us center and connect to our quiet core selves, our God selves. It matters not whether we're experiencing financial setbacks, relationship issues, work difficulties, health problems and/or problems completely outside of our control. There's something we can all do to free ourselves from those outward disturbances by stepping inward. We can open our hearts and follow the flow of our own unique spiritual path, even if it's just a trickle.

Oh sure, you might say, I've heard this sort of stuff before. Maybe you heard, but weren't truly listening or weren't ready for change at your soul level. It's time to look around and notice there's a mass movement, awakening, enlightenment and it's a welcomed thing. Anyway,if you desire freedom from fear, it is, and most likely you do.

Frankly, I've only recently opened myself up to true spiritual awareness outside of my small world. This "awareness" gained steam ever since my beloved husband, Joseph, returned home to spirit and left me and my two sons with broken hearts. With his help from above, new information seems to be flooding in every time I turn around. It's as if new knowledge is gushing over the riverbanks, leading me to my own inner calm. No longer can I think its my imagination running wild.

With that in mind, I feel compelled to share with you what I've learned lately that has helped me ride the waves of my own storms in hopes that it will inspire you too. I have assembled some modern day mentors who have been the most influential in my journey. Take note of the similar truths that thread between each of their messages fortifying those truths. Also, I might add, the most influential ones are first and last; Echkheart Tolle and Neal Donald Walsch.

Note: This hub is filled with lots of thought provoking information so I have enhanced it with my photography for you to enjoy and contemplate with silent moments.

Stillness is consciousness (Eckhart Tolle).
Stillness is consciousness (Eckhart Tolle).

Eckhart Tolle Interviewed by Oprah Winfrey

Eckhart Tolle is author of The Power of Now, Stillness Speaks, Awakening of Your Life's Purpose, A New Earth and more. In 2011, he was listed by the Watkins Review as the most spiritually influential person in the world. In 2008, a New York Times writer calls Tolle, "The most popular spiritual author in the United States".

Below are several meaningful Tolle quotes which caught my attention from an interview with Oprah Winfrey. Oprah believes he's a modern day prophet and I'm inclined to agree.

Echkhart Tolle Quotes:

"Ask life what purpose it has for you by practicing moments of stillness to get to the spaces where there are potential answers."

Be patient, it was two years before Tolle had his big "aha" moment about writing his first novel.

"You get a strong impulse when the time is right, as if something in the world needs to be born. It's a strong knowing absent of the decision making process. Trust life when impulse comes; you learn to discern."

During his awakening journey, Eckhart said his thinking process was inspired from something deeper making it more powerful.

"All creative endeavors are born within the space of stillness."

"The hyperactive mind is extremely repetitive."

"When you have spaces in between thoughts, your thinking improves i.e. . . better ideas, better relationships, original thoughts, stepping out of role playing."

"Consciousness itself is the foundation of life . . . you could say "God"."

"Stillness is consciousness, be the witness; we are the observer."

"With stillness you become aware of your inner body, its aliveness and it likes it, it likes your attentions and that is healing. You may feel the energy within your body such as a tingling in your hands, breathing, heart beating, muscles relaxing, sounds etc. To know the stillness slows down noisy thinking."

When I began to pay attention to his advice, I suddenly realized how noisy my own repetitive thoughts were, especially the negative ones. With practice, I got good at catching myself doing it. I devised my own methods of letting them go and from it, gained peace of mind and no longer live in fear.

"Flowers and anything in nature can be messengers from another realm."
"Flowers and anything in nature can be messengers from another realm."

Eckhart Tolle and Flowers:

"Nature can be an access point to inner stillness. Flowers are more fleeting (ethereal) having less density so spirit can flow through them more freely. When you contemplate a flower, it can help you block out the busy mind to get you in touch with your deeper dimension within. This is what Jesus meant when he said "Look at the Lilies of the Field". We can have what the flowers embody, freeness from anxiety without concern about tomorrow. Flowers and anything in nature can be messengers from another realm."

On Naming and Labeling Things:

"Try seeing a flower or anything in nature without labeling it or naming it. You'll be observing the flowers, trees or all nature through the background of stillness. You may find yourself seeing life vibrating because it helps get you out of your head."

Oprah described her experience with this. For the first time in her life, she said she felt a magical presence, power, strength and a connection.

"Not believing in this or that and stepping out of identification with thinking is spirituality . . . stillness."

"You are not your mind, the thought processes are the result of conditioning and bear an inherent dysfunction."

"Listening points to who you really are . . . underneath all the things that continuously change such as emotions, thoughts and or circumstances . . . who you really are never changes."

"Awareness and inner voice are separate . . . awareness of a presence is you."

"An alertness is required to know what is . . . otherwise, you go into your thoughts."

"Who you are cannot be named."

"We are a no-thing . . . it cannot be named or take a form."

"Let go of the need to always understand."

"Living in the "now" brings power to action."

"I" is the space in which everything happens . . . true identity . . . when you live knowing that, your life will be fruitful and a great adventure . . . that is how simple it is. The fruitfulness will come about naturally."

"The "I" of being-ness has always been there . . . it is a timeless presence. It is you listening . . . your alert awareness."

More Echkhart Tolle and Oprah Winfrey

Question from a caller during the Oprah podcast: "Why is there an increased intensity and speed in which people are becoming in touch with awakening (Christ consciousness), especially in the past ten years?"

Answer by Tolle: "Essential things don't happen unless there's an absolute need. We have reached a "crisis" point. Today, the egoic consciousness is becoming more destructive as technology amplifies the ego's dysfunctions. We are in the process of destroying the planet and collective conflict will continue to cause collapse unless there is a shift, an awakening. So, if humanity wants to make it into the next evolutionary level, we need to shift our collective consciousness. Awakening was a luxury in the past and the few awakened tried to teach others, but there was much misinterpretation."

Oprah reiterated: "There is a collective consciousness and each one of us has a responsibility to observe our own dysfunctional (negativity) egoic thoughts to change the negative collective to positive."

Oprah Winfrey Quotes during Eckhart Tolle interview:

"Discover the Power Within You" written by Eric Butterworth helped me reconcile my Christian background with new information of spirituality."

"Jesus came to show us a Christ consciousness or higher consciousness. He showed us how it is done by being a living example and mentor. He gave us laws and principles to guide us to higher consciousness and not to start Christianity."

"Jesus was a revolutionary who has been misinterpreted a lot."

"Religion can be a closed door when you accept it as an ideology telling you what is the right and wrong path."

"Old religion tells you what "to" and what "not to" believe by authorities . . . new religion says your own path is okay."

"I am a free thinking Christian."

Dr. Wayne Dyer and Lao-tzu

"When there is silence, one finds the anchor of the universe within oneself" (Lao-tzu).

Quoting Dr. Wayne Dyer from an Oprah Winfrey interview:

"We have 60,000 thoughts everyday; many of which are repetitive"

"Thoughts are electromagnetic frequencies" . . . "Every thought has energy (some with high frequencies and some with low frequencies)" . . . "Everything in the Universe has energy."

"You become what you think".

During a PBS special he referred to the great "I Am" suggesting we use it to change our thoughts, thus change our lives. I'll elaborate on this later from the book, Conversations With God by Neale Donald Walsch.

In his book, Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life Dr. Wayne Dyer writes an essay for each of the 81 verses of the Tao-Te-Ching (a book of wisdom written 2500 years ago) authored by the prophet Lao-tzu. Dyer applies its valuable wisdom to the 21st Century. Here are some of his thoughts pertaining to the wisdom of the Tao:

"Take time to "let go and let God" every single day. Say the words over and over to yourself until you can actually feel the difference. Letting go is a markedly distinct physical and psychological experience, much different from striving. Let go of your demands that you can't be happy because of what's supposedly missing in your life."

"Thinking about being somewhere else uses up your precious present moments; the enlightened sage makes a practice of immersing him/herself completely in the current "nowness" of life."

"Practice letting go of thoughts about what's not here now."

"Become an astute observer, judge less . . . listen more."

"Release the what-ifs and all of your goals and fears for the future, replacing them with the power of this instant; be here, be now."

"Embrace oneness by seeing yourself in everyone you encounter. Stop yourself from judgments and walk an imaginary mile in other's shoes. Do so with all forms of life, even the plant world. See yourself in everyone and all creations, we are the world."

"Everyone is God speaking . . . why not be polite and listen to him." (the poet Hafiz)

"Realize your essence and you will witness the end without endings" (Lao-tzu).
"Realize your essence and you will witness the end without endings" (Lao-tzu).

Teal Scott

Teal Scott is a spiritual catalyst and author of, The Sculptor in the Sky who writes and teaches about spirituality, the meaning of life, and the road to health and happiness. In the first years of her life it became apparent that she was gifted with extrasensory abilities. I first was introduced to her by a fellow Hubpages writer and have been impressed by her knowledge and likable presence.

Teal Scott Quotes:

"The exploration of our eternal nature reveals that at our most fundamental level, we are all energy. This energy expresses itself in many different ways, but it always has been, always is, and always will be, the same energy. This means that the most fundamental truth in this universe is the truth of "oneness".

"The space of consciousness is oneness. We are one. The answers of the universe is in us."

"Happiness depends what you're focused on. Focus on what you want, not what you don't want. Focusing on what you don't want separates you from what you do want."

"Let go of thoughts that impede your connection to your higher self i.e. . . negative thoughts, fear, anxiety. Practice calm breathing to help you accomplish connecting to your higher source self which has always been there."

"Consciousness and frequency go hand and hand. Low (negative) energy frequencies (ego) restricts the flow of life forces and intuition. High (positive) energy frequencies raises the flow of life forces, clarity of consciousness, and intuition."

"Enlightenment is people coming into alignment with their own internal vibrations (frequencies) where the vibrations of fear cannot not exist."

"Meditation is one of the best things to do to change your focus or step into the observing mind where your'e looking at the thoughts without judging or investing in them; like watching clouds passing in the sky."

When I need a reminder to go within and let go of negativity, I can go on U-Tube and pick out one of the many presentations or radio interviews of Teal and be uplifted by her surprising accumulation of knowledge. Or, if I want to manifest abundance or search for my purpose in life, I can choose one of those to gain advise. I like her intelligent youthful spirit.

Deepak Chopra

Deepak Chopra is a world renowned mind-body healing pioneer and founder of the Chopra Center for Well Being in California. He has authored 65 books including several New York Times best sellers. Time magazine heralds him as one of the top hundred heroes and icons of the century and credits him as "the poet-prophet of alternative medicine."

Deepak also advises to meditate everyday and watch or allow your thoughts to come in and out like clouds floating by in the sky. In an interview, he told Oprah he does it two hours everyday, but is not suggesting that for everyone. He suggests ten minutes, or so, twice a day and that early morning is the best time so that you don't fall asleep.

(During meditation or stillness) "Allow your thoughts to come in and out like clouds floating by in the sky" (Deepak Chopra).

The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer

Michael Singer Quotes:

"Spiritual growth can begin by silencing the negative thoughts in our head."

"Once you make a commitment to free yourself of that scared person inside, you'll notice a clear decision point at which your growth takes place and you feel your energy start to change."

"When problems show up in your life: Relax and lean away from the mass noise the mind creates in everyday life. Give the problem space and room to pass through. Connect to the seed of your core quiet self and you'll be more clear about what to do."

"Get close to Me. Get close to Me. Do what you have to. Say a rosary. Kiss a stone. Bow to the East. Chant a chant. Swing a pendulum. Test a muscle. Write a book. Do what it takes." Conversations With God, an uncommon dialogue.
"Get close to Me. Get close to Me. Do what you have to. Say a rosary. Kiss a stone. Bow to the East. Chant a chant. Swing a pendulum. Test a muscle. Write a book. Do what it takes." Conversations With God, an uncommon dialogue.

Neale Donal Walsch's "Conversations With God"

My personal favorite which changed my life and thinking after my dear husband, Joseph, left our Earthly world. I believe it was divine intervention from God, his angels and Joseph's spirit that this book reached me. I would have never sought it out on my own. It sent me on a new journey from which I feel closer to Father God and Mother Earth. I feel so grateful that a new sense of spiritual growth and inner peace has begun to replace my grief.

Neale Donald Walsch wrote Conversations With God, an uncommon dialogue; his first book of three was published in 1996. When Neale Donald Walsch was down on his luck, hitting rock bottom, while calling out to God, he heard a voice and his amazing conversation with God commenced as he felt a strong urge to write it down. Throughout the book he asks the questions of God and the quotes below are God's responses. The first book became a publishing phenomenon resting on the New York Times bestseller list for 137 weeks. Book 2 and Book 3 also made the bestseller list. When it was given to me to read, I was quickly convinced it was God speaking to him, to us, to me. For many of you reading this, it will raise more questions than answers, but I'm here to tell you, God covers it thoroughly through his messenger in Neale Donald Walsch.

"My Truth is in the whisper of the wind."
"My Truth is in the whisper of the wind."

God conveys ways he speaks to us :

"My Truth is in the whisper of the wind, the babble of the brook, the crack of the thunder, the tap of the rain. It is the feel of the earth, the fragrance of the lily, the warmth of the sun, the pull of the moon."

"I talk to everyone. All the time. The question is not to who do I talk, but who listens?"

"Listen to your feelings. Listen to your Highest Thoughts. Listen to your experience. Whenever any one of these differ from what you've been told by your teachers, or read in your books, forget the words. Words are the least reliable purveyor of Truth."

As many of his messages make me think, this one really got to me:

"By listening to what other people think they heard Me say, you don't have to think at all. This is the biggest reason for most people turning from My messages on a personal level. If you acknowledge that you are receiving My messages directly, then you are responsible for interpreting them. It is far safer and much easier to accept the interpretation of others (even others who have lived 2,000 years ago)."

And this one too:

"Hear Me, everywhere. Whenever you have a question, simply know that I have answered it already. Then open your eyes to your world. My response could be in an article already published. In the movie now being made. In the song just yesterday composed. In the words about to be said by a loved one. In the heart of a new friend about to be made."

"My Truth . . . and your surest help in time of need . . . is as awesome as the night sky, and as simply, incontrovertibly trustful as a baby's gurgle. It is as loud as a pounding heartbeat . . . and as quiet as a breath taken in unity with Me."

"I will not leave you, I cannot leave you, for you are My creation and My product, My daughter and My son, My purpose and My . . . Self. Call on Me, therefore, wherever and whenever you are separate from the peace that I am . . . I will be there. With Truth. And Light. And Love."

"My Truth is in the fragrance of a lily."
"My Truth is in the fragrance of a lily."

On The Goal of Our Souls and How to Attain It

Neale Donald Walsch asked God that if he obeyed the natural laws He created in the universe, would he never have a moment's trouble again?

God's Answer: "You would never experience your Self as being in what you call "trouble". You would not understand any life situation to be a problem. You would not encounter any circumstance with trepidation. You would put an end to all worry, doubt, and fear. You would live as you fantasize Adam and Eve lived . . . not as disembodied spirits in the realm of absolute, but as embodied spirits in the realm of the relative. Yet you would have all the freedom, all the joy, all the peace, and all the wisdom, understanding and power of the Spirit you are. You would be a fully realized being."

"This is the goal of your soul. This is its purpose . . . to fully realize itself while in the body; to become the embodiment of all that it really is. . . This is my plan for you. This is My ideal: that I should become realized through you. That thus, concept is turned into experience, that I might know my Self experientially."

Neale Donald Walsch asked: "Then how can I know these laws? How can I learn them?"

God: "It is not a question of learning, but of remembering."

NDW: "How can I remember them?"

God: "Begin by being still. Quiet the outer world, so that the inner world might bring you sight. This in-sight is what you seek, yet you cannot have it while you are so deeply concerned with your outer reality. Seek, therefore, to go within as much as possible. And when you are not going within, come from within as you deal with the outside world. Remember this axiom: If you do not go within, you go without."

"Quiet the outer world, so that the inner world might bring you sight." . . . "If you do not go within, you go without." . . .
"Quiet the outer world, so that the inner world might bring you sight." . . . "If you do not go within, you go without." . . .

On Why God is the same as "Now":

God: "God is everywhere. Therefore, God is nowhere in particular, because to be somewhere in particular, God would have to not be somewhere else . . . which is not possible for God. There is only one thing possible "not possible" for God, and that is for God to not be God. God cannot "not be". God cannot un-God itself. I am everywhere, and that's all there is to it. And since I am everywhere, I am nowhere. And if I am NOWHERE, where am I? NOW HERE."

On thoughts:

God: "Thought is pure energy. Every thought you have, have ever had, and ever will have is creative. The energy of your thought never ever dies. Ever. It leaves your being and heads out into the universe."

"All thoughts congeal; all thoughts meet other thoughts, crisscrossing in an incredible maze of energy, forming an ever-changing pattern of unspeakable beauty and unbelievable complexity."

"Like energy attracts like energy . . . forming (to use simple words) clumps of energy of like kinds. When enough "clumps" crisscross each other . . . run into each other . . . they stick to each other. It takes an incomprehensibly huge amount of similar energy to form matter. But matter will form out of pure energy."

To shorten this next part, God went on to explain how matter remains matter a very long time unless it is disrupted by dissimilar forms of energy. When acted upon, the dissimilar energy actually dismembers the matter releasing the raw energy of which it was composed. In elementary terms it is the theory behind the atomic bomb of which Einstien came closer to than any other human . . . before or since to discovering, explaining, and functionalizing the creative secret of the universe.

"You should now better understand how people of like minds can work together to create a favored reality. The phrase "Wherever two or more are gathered in My name" becomes much more meaningful."

"You must stop seeing God as separate from you . . .
"You must stop seeing God as separate from you . . .
. . . and you as separate from each other."
. . . and you as separate from each other."

On Collective Consciousness:

God: "When entire societies think a certain way, very often astonishing things happen . . . not all of them necessarily desirable. For instance, a society living in fear, very often produces in form that which it fears most. Similarly, large communities or congregations often find miracle producing power in combined thinking (or what some people call common prayer)."

"And it must be made clear that even individuals . . . if their thought (prayer, hope, wish, dream, fear) is amazingly strong . . . can in and of themselves, produce such results. Jesus did this regularly. He understood how to manipulate energy and matter, how to rearrange it, how to redistribute it, how to utterly control it. Many Masters have known this. Many know it now. You can know it right now".

"Thought is the first level of creation. Next comes words. Words are more dynamic and creative than thought because words are a different level of vibrations. They disrupt, change, alter, affect the universe with greater impact. Next comes actions. Actions are words moving."

"Actions are words moving. Words are thoughts expressed. Thoughts are ideas formed. Ideas are energies come together. Energies are forces released. Forces are elements existent. Elements are particles of God, portions of All, the stuff of everything."

"Each person must take responsibility for herself or himself . . . that is undeniably true. But America . . . and your world . . . can truly work only when every person is willing to stand responsible for all of you as a Whole."

"Begin by being still."
"Begin by being still."

More on Collective Consciousness and Oneness

NDW asked: "Is there any way out of this mess?"

God: "Yes. Shall I say it again? A shift in consciousness. You cannot solve the problems which plague humankind through governmental action or by political means. You have been trying that for thousands of years. The change that must be made can be made only in the hearts of men."

NDW: "Can You put the change that must be made into one sentence?"

God: "I already have several times. You must stop seeing God as separate from you, and you as separate from each other. The only solution is the Ultimate Truth: nothing exists in the universe that is separate from anything else. Everything is intrinsically connected, irrevocably interdependent, interactive, interwoven into the fabric of all of life. All government, all politics, must be rooted in it. This is the future hope of your race; the only hope for your planet."

"Your soul seeks the highest feeling. It seeks to experience . . . to be . . . perfect love. It is perfect love . . . and it knows this. Yet it wishes to do more than know it. It wishes to be it in its experience."
"Your soul seeks the highest feeling. It seeks to experience . . . to be . . . perfect love. It is perfect love . . . and it knows this. Yet it wishes to do more than know it. It wishes to be it in its experience."

On Worry:

God: "Worry is the activity of the mind which does not understand its connection with Me. Fear is the opposite of everything you are, and so has an effect of opposition to your mental and physical health. Fear is worry magnified."

On the Great "I AM":

God: "The word "I" is the key that starts the engine of creation. The words "I am" are extremely powerful. They are statements to the universe. Commands. Whatever follows the word "I" (which calls forth the Great I Am) tends to manifest physical reality."

Many Masters I have sent you, Buddha, Jesus, Krishna have known this. Many know it now. You can know it. Right now.

"Every Master has likewise had the same message: What I am, you are. What I can do, you can do. These things and more, shall you also do."

On the Ultimate Truth:

God: "Your body, your mind, and your soul (spirit) are one. In this, you are a microcosm of Me . . . the Divine All, the Holy Everything, the Sum and Substance. You see now how I am the beginning and the end of everything, the Alpha and the Omega?"

"Now I will explain to you the ultimate mystery, your exact and true relationship to Me. YOU ARE MY BODY. As your body is your mind and soul, so, too, are you to My mind and soul. Therefore, everything I experience, I experience through you. Just as your body, mind and spirit are one, so too, are Mine. So it is that Jesus of Nazareth, among the many who understood this mystery, spoke immutable truth when he said "I and the Father are One." Now I will tell you, there are even larger truths than this to which you will one day become privy. For even as you are the body, of Me, I am the body of another."

"Remember this: The soul creates, the mind reacts."
"Remember this: The soul creates, the mind reacts."

On the soul's desire, purpose in life:

NDW: "How can I act with love when all my previous experience is screaming at me that a particular "moment" is likely to be painful?"

God: "Ignore your previous experience and go into the moment. Be Here Now. See what there is to work with right now in creating yourself anew. Remember, this is what you are doing here. You have come to this world in this way, at this time, in this place, to KNOW WHO YOU ARE . . . and to create Who You Wish to Be. This is the purpose of all of life. Life is an ongoing, never-ending process of re-creation. You keep recreating your selves in the image of your next highest idea about yourselves."

"You are not on this planet to produce anything with your body. You are on this planet to produce something with your soul. Your body is simply and merely the tool of your soul. Your mind is the power that makes the body go. So what you have here is a power tool used in the creation of the soul's desire."

"It is the soul's intention to know itself experientially . . . and thus to know Me. For the soul understands that You and I are One, even as the mind denies this truth and the body acts out of this denial. Therefore, be out of your mind and do some soul searching instead. The soul understands what the mind cannot conceive."

"It is a great time-saver to be out of your mind. Decisions are reached quickly, choices are activated rapidly, because your soul creates out of present experience only, without review, analysis, and criticism of past encounters."

"I am the wind which rustles your hair. I am the sun which warms your body."
"I am the wind which rustles your hair. I am the sun which warms your body."

"I am the wind which rustles your hair. I am the sun which warms your body. I am the rain which dances on your face."

"I am the beginning of your first thought. I am the end of your last. I am the idea which sparked your most brilliant moment. I am the glory of its fulfillment. I am the feeling which fueled the most loving thing you ever did. I am the part of you which yearns for that feeling again and again."

"Whatever works for you, whatever makes it happen . . . whatever ritual, ceremony, demonstration, meditation, thought, song, word, or action it takes for you to "reconnect" . . . do this."

Beautiful hub as always fossillady... some really thought-provoking stuff! I really like all the references you make here to letting go... it's often the most difficult thing in the world to do.

Just a couple of things : have you ever read The Shack by Wm Paul Young, normally I don't touch religious allegory novels with a bargepole but I have to say that this is a beautiful story!

Also --- I know that it is very popular and everybody says it but ... The Secret by Rhonda Byrne is fantastic and inspirational story.

Finally, but certainly not last! --- the art of happiness by The Dalai Lama and Howard C Cutler is amazing... such a spiritual but humble man, i really recommend it!

Once again --- beautiful hub FLady, it took me a long time to read it but time very well-spent --- I always enjoy reading your thoughts and reflections :-) damian

Hi Damian, As always, I appreciate your thoughtful response. When somebody introduces me to a new book that inspired them, it feels like an invitation from the powers that be. Do you ever feel that too? I will have to check into those recommendations, if only there were more hours in the day! Kathi :O)

For sure try the Dalai Lama... such simple messages he gives but very very strong.

I do feel this too and I will be checking out the people you mention in this hub in more detail!

Hello Fossi, I experienced a feeling of quietness and tranquility while reading this. I have never heard of Teal Scott. I watched a part of the video, i will come back and finish watching. I love the quotes, esp., Judge less...Listen more. I connected with Opra's statement, " I am a free thinking christian. " Thank you for sharing your journey of enlightenment. I am so happy you came back to share your photography and articles again. Hugs my friend..

Hi Ruby, Good to see you today my hippie friend. I'm glad you felt the quietness while reading this. I'm learning to do that more and its making a positive difference in my life. Getting the stress and fear out of it and other good stuff. The more I watched Teal, the more I liked her. I thought she was a darling young thing and then I looked her up on her website and she's really something else. I like what Oprah said too and about Christ consciousness. Another thing she said that I liked was that she took God out of the box . . . I'm glad to be back on the hub. I'm going to start subbing again, yuck, but gotta get some cash somehow, if you know what I mean! I don't want it to interfere with what I'm doing here and at my fossillady blog. I want to be able to keep up. Hugs right back attcha and Peace and Love!

Interesting thoughts on finding balance in life. I find Christianity is a way of life, personally touching the face of God through prayer, mediation and daily living. It is not rules and regulations -- as you mentioned. Very inspirational post, Fosilllady.

Hi Kathi,

I'm so glad that you are recovering emotionally and spiritually. I can feel such positive energy here! Being able to let go and find peace instead of being consumed with fear and aloneness is key to good health and better living in the world. I find mine through my relationship w/ Jesus Christ. Your photographs are stunning as always. Thank you for sharing your inspirations with all of us . I send you best wishes for a happy 2013.

Good evening my dear friend Kathi and most esteemed hub colleague - what a pleasant way to enjoy a nice cuppa tea and some biscuits and sit back and enjoy your fabulous and epic hub presentation while listening to The Chieftains with my heat blowing - lol - gee what a set up. lol

I would have to say this is my favorite piece of work by you and that is saying a lot because there is a spiritual quality to your stirring words here which are quite affecting and moving (considering what has gone on in your during the last few years) ...... I too , as you know , can be quite moved by the beauty of nature as I walk in it and look at it everyday along my beach and the lakeshore road - we are like birds of a feather that way Kathi, and soul mates/kindred spirits , if you will.

I understand this hub and the work you put into it must have been a true labor of love.

Sending you my awe (lol) and admiration and also warm wishes from lake erie time ontario canada from Colin,Tiffy and Gabriel at 9;30pm

This is a fascinating and very thought provoking hub, Kathi. I will be reading it many times and thinking about all of the ideas presented in the hub very carefully. Thank you so much for the wonderful collection of quotes and thoughts.

Hello Jan, thanks for your visit and comment. I agree Conversations With God is a beautiful body of work! Sometimes I cried while reading it for the first time. It's one of those books you have to go back over before certain things sink in! Best wishes this day to you! Kathi :O)

Hi Cat, Good to see you. Thanks for commenting and sharing what gives you peace in Jesus. He was indeed a master sent to us so that we could learn how to find our soul's purpose and know who we really are. I finally get that! Take care, Kathi :O)

Hi teaches 1234, Thanks for your visit and comment today. Yes, balance is really the key isn't it. Between living in this crazy worldly life and trusting the stillness inside!

Hi Colin, How are Ms. Tiffy and Gabriel today. You probably already have, but you should write a poem about them. Me, and lots of other hubbers, look forward to your comments cause they are inspiring and uplifting! To one kindred spirit to another . . . hope your day is warm enough to go walk the beach and get in touch with nature and the stillness inside! XO

Hi Alicia, I know what you mean by going back over things. I have to sometimes for it to process, live life in between, then go back to it again. Then I have those a-ha moments! I'm glad you stopped by and left a nice comment! Hope you have a wonderful day ahead! Kathi :O)

Hi Gus, That's one of the things I like most about hubpages how you can display your photos and its fairly user friendly that way. I have a fossil blog on wordpress which is a lot harder to use. Thanks for the nice compliment and for the visit! Kathi :O)

Good evening Kathi - just took the last bag of garbage over the road to the other side for tomorrow's pickup and what a beautiful clear night with stars and a gorgeous half moon ..... I can even see the lights on the other side which is the good 'ole U.S.A.

Still loving this hub presentation - love the title of course and the sentiments which follow and naturally your world class and artful photography .....both cats are hibernating tonight and in that short period of time of being out there I could feel a real chill go through my body so I'd better bid you goodnight and go and turn up the heat.

Hey Colin, It's 17 degrees this morning and we have a few inches of snow on the ground! It's real perty to look at. :O)

My kitties don't like it at all. Had to take Khaki to the vet last week cause he had a puncture bite that got infected and he ran a fever. He's my scrappy one and probably got in a fight or got away from a predator. Now he has a tapeworm. Sometimes he's plain trouble...lol!

Started subbing last week and will probably have steady work so feeling better about makn ends meet. I need to practice what I've written in Still the Waters. It has helped me worry much less about the future and enjoy today. Glad you approve of this hub cause sometimes people get turned off when it comes to talkn bout this kind of stuff! Was feeln the flow so went with it!

Love those half moon moments! xo

Hi b. So great of you to welcome me back . . . and with a thoughtful visit here at my latest hub. I had been away from hubpages cause my job had turned into 40 plus hours and most of the day sitting in front of a computer. It was too hard to come home tired and sit some more in front of computer, if you know what I mean. Now I'm not working as much and am not at a computer all day! Thanks for nice compliments and hope all is well with you and that you're finally getting settled in! Kathi :O)

Good evening Kathi - I just shared/posted/linked your beautiful hub presentation here to the Art/film,literature/ FB group so perhaps more people can see your awesome work.

Well the lake finally froze over in the last two days here - how about you?

One of my cats, Mister Gabriel is currently out on the deck and there is a beautiful full moon in the clear sky tonight and no wind but still fairly cold - this past week was the coldest we've had in the last 3 years but it is supposed to be warming up early next week.

I hope all is well with you these days and thank you so much for your buffet of wonderful comments at my hub - big hugs from your 3 favorite Canadians, Colin. Tiffy and Gabriel - 7:30pm

Oh Colin, So nice of you to post my hub so more can see . . . and a wonderful compliment! Thank you for that :O)!

I went outside to see where the moon was and thought about where Lake Erie and you are from here. The moon is beautiful peeking through a scattered cloudy evening sky. Its directly east from where I stand out my front door. I'm guessing you're probably southeast from where I live in SW Michigan. I waved hello to you in that direction.

Can't get over how quickly the lake froze over. Tomorrow I think I'll take my camera and see what I can capture!

Say good night to the kitty cats for me and I hope you have a lovely evening your sweet self! Kathi xo

So much interesting material here that I will have to come back and read it again. I am an admirer of Deepak Chopra. My wife is now reading his latest book and I will too. She is far more spiritual than I and has been involved in New Thought for several years.

Dear Kathi-this is one of the best hubs I have Ever read. I am so inspired by these truths you write about. I'm glad you started out telling us how these truths are showing themselves to you because your open to it. I am thankful for the great information you've given us. I am so pumped up about this that I plan to go buy 'conversations with God' tomorrow. Thanks so much :-)

Amazing hub, Fossilady, and am honored to connect with you. I believe strongly in what each of these inspiring human beings advocates...that you become who you THINK you are. There in lies the power of positive thinking. When we think we can, in spite of everything, we can. The only thing, at times, is to get rid of the fear that lies within. Thanks for sharing!I am sharing this with my husband.

Fossy, it is so good to see you back! Three years after your hubby's passing still means that your are raw and vulnerable, but yes, much stronger than in the beginning.

Echkhart Tolle's "Power of Now" literally saved my life!

This is a brilliant hub that will means a lot to many grieving wives. After death, divorce is the second highest trauma...

Take care, Fossillady!

Hi Minnetonka Twin . . . Thank you so much for the wonderful compliment and I'm glad it inspired you. That's exactly how I felt reading and listening to the messages these mentors have given us. I truly believe they have been passed along to us from our creator. I am reading Conversations With God for the third time and it's finally clicking. The first time I read it, it blew my mind. It was the first one I read between the others I mentioned and they reinforce the truths in it all the more. Best of luck to you, Kathi :O)

Hi midget38, Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I agree, positive thinking is powerful and being in the present helps make it easier to stay that way. I've always been a worrier and letting go of that has made me a much happier human being. Good luck sharing with your husband and God bless, Kathi :O)

Hi Martie, So good to see you, hope all is well with you! Didn't know you were an Eckhart Tolle fan. He's great, I fell in love with him listening to him on Oprah and other interviews. I want to read all his books! I really felt your statement that he literally saved your life. Because of his message, I make a point to go to that quiet place throughout the day and let go of worry that was consuming my mind.

It feels good to have the time again to be back on the hub and look forward to stopping by to see what you've been up to! Take care, Fossi :O)

This was amazing kathi, I loved the quotes of Neale Donal Walsch, as I was reading I realised that actually there is a similar thing in quantum physics, its called entanglement. the whole universe is connected with all of us, the planets and everything else including our minds and thoughts, fascinating read, nell

Good evening Kathi from lake erie time 12:54am and there is a most beautiful full moon (although on the wane) shining over my lake right now and for February 1st the water is still moving and not frozen with high winds and waves - all of the broken up ice had been pushed up onto the shores and now the beach is hidden - probably until the thaw of spring now - sending you big time hugs from Colin and his cats Tiffy and Gabriel who just had a little fresh air themselves out on the deck - lucky cats - lol

Fossillady profile image

Hi Nell, If my memory serves me, I believe God mentions in Neale Donald Walsch's book, the theory of quantum physics discovered by Einstein. You have a more scientific mind than I do, so I'm not surprised you caught on to that. I'm on my third reading of the book because it's packed with so much to contemplate and I connected right away to the message it gives us! So glad you found it fascinating, me too! Kathi :O)

Congratulations dear Kathi on 200 followers and I sending warm wishes your way from Colin, Tiffy and Gabriel on a very dark night by the lake - no stars or moon - just a heavy dark sky. Mostly wet snow the last couple of days - we're into March now as of tomorrow - is spring just around the corner do you think?

Everyone is well and my monthly gas bill came in today and this one is usually the peak bill of the year and it was quite a bit less than last year at this time so I would say this winter has been mild enough but with more no snow and active weather. Our beach is covered with snow and ice and probably won't reappear until mid to late April.

Hello sweetheart . . . how thoughtful of you to congratulate me! I'm excited about that number.

My gas bill was way lower this year, but then it's judged on the prior year cause I'm on the budget plan! That heavy snow you talked about was so beautiful here landing and sticking on all the trees and bushes . . . so went on a photo shoot. I plan to post it, but I've been so busy with loose ends on my book and haven't had the time. Glad everything is well at Lake Eerie. I heard March will be a fairly warm month so that snow might melt sooner this year! Hugs, Kathi :O)

Up, Useful, Interesting and shared with followers and on social networking sites.

I have read some of the authors you quoted and want to read the others soon.

Your photos are lovely.

About the Tao The Ching, a translation by my brother Guy Leekley was published a few years ago by Anusara.

About oneness or nonduality, an interesting book is I AM THAT by Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj. A pdf of the complete book is online.

This is a hub worth reading again and again, and again. It so very thought provoking. Aside from the many things I can learn from this hub, the part about like minds working together made me think about our founding fathers and how it was probably this likeness of mind that helped them do the great things they did. And how today, the world may be in the shape it is, because there is no likeness of minds. There is so much to learn from this hub. Your pictures add so much to this too.

There is much here to contemplate, fossillady. Tuning in and finding a way to listen and know ourselves and our purpose will help us to find our way.

These past two weeks or so I have spent much time doing just this and know that I will continue to on a higher level than I have for years. Sometimes life events especially unexpected ones can be a time to find the stillness and look inside and around for the answers...at least it has been so for me.

Thank you for sharing this.

Angels are on the way this morning ps

Patricia, I couldn't have said it better myself. I'm glad you have come to a place of stillness where we can grow. Sometimes life forces us to do that and sends us on a deeper more meaningful path. Glad this information struck a cord. I have to go back to it myself from time to time as a reminder. Bless you, Kathi ♥

I wish there was a breath-taking vote! For now, I voted beautiful. Beautiful photos and words. Such thought-provoking information. I just heard a quote recently that read, "if you aren't listening, you aren't learning." And this morning as my husband and I were driving around to run errands, I was having a conversation with God through prayer.

I looked up and there was a sign on the side of the road in front of a house. It was for a contracting company, but the sign read, "Have Faith!"

LOL, I thought, ok, I guess my prayers are answered.
