Book Review: Awakening by Stovall Weems

The Awakening is a good book for both new believers and old believers of Jesus. As the subtitle says is a new approach to faith fasting is spiritual freedom. Mr. Weems breaks down to weakening process in 10 chapters divided by two parts. Part one being awakening experience, in which she helps you discover or rediscover your passion for Jesus but most importantly reminds us that we live under Grace from God. Even if you don't partake in the fasting experience this book will change or reinforce your outlook and love of God. As Stovall states in his book,”Awakening is an experience, but it must be based on a foundation of biblical truth and principles.” Everyone that reads this book will experience different things depending on her walk with God at this time in their life. In part two he helps you rediscover the secrets of prayer and helps you understand the new outlook on fasting.

One of the best parts of this book is when Weems compares our spirit to the engine of our cars. He states that after a while the engine starts to sputter because of the build up of gunk that establishes over time gets to be overbearing so we need to get the oil changed. Fasting is the way to clean out our spiritual gunk from our bodies caused by the world we live in.He states in his book that is not a physician so before anyone begins a fast they need to talk to their own doctor so they don't imperil their health.

The awakening is a 21 day journey that Stovall and his church began every year in January And they invite you To join them threw their website,

This book belongs in the library of every believer in order to reset their spiritual lives that can get contaminated by the world we live in. Stovall Weems by writing this book gives the readers the opportunity to experience God in a different way and along with his website, www.awake, Offers a generous support system.

On personal level this book revitalized my passion not only for God but for my writing as well, because as you will find when you read this book a deeper relationship with the Holy Spirit. In my humble opinion this book deserves five stars as author a mighty hand shake and thank you from those who read it.

I received this book for free from Water Brook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.

This book sounds interesting. I like the analogy of a car's engine to your spirit. Thanks for sharing.
