CAN YOU SEE?

Can you see? ~

The Hosta leaves jade green~

Folded out~

A single leaf~

As big as a boat~

To the baby chipmunk~

Teetering on top like afloat?

Can you see? ~

The purple lush Violets~

Snuggled near~

Underneath to the Hosta~

Cozy base~

Making it a beautiful~

Secret hiding place?

Can you see? ~

Shaded deep within the Hosta stems ~

A white egg shaped stone~

All smooth and rounded at both ends~

Where baby chipmunk hides within~

His miniature forest~

So his foe can not hunt down and find him?

Can you see? ~

Dollops of pastel blue Forget-me-knots~

Sprung up here and there~

Where another chipmunk hole~

Is hidden some where?

Can you see? ~

A Red-breasted-grosbeak~

Claiming his stake~

Of food for his supper~

As well as for his mate?

Can you see? ~

A blue tinged bird in the birdbath~

Flopping in the cool water~

Sprinkling the droplets around~

As it frolics?

Can you see? ~

The Morning dove~

Grey and white trimmed~

Coo-ing on the branch~

Tender with his song~

Winning our hearts within?

Can you see? ~

Lavender Myrtle cascading down~

The stone wall~

Vibrant flourishing, flowing~

Securely rooted so it does not fall?

Can you see? ~

The garden left from last year~

With stakes and string~

Still standing~

That once marked where~

Plants were near?

Can you see? ~

The scads of Dandelions~

As their bright yellow has passed~

Now fluffy white tiny balls~

Of feathered seeds~

Wait ready to fly and roam~

To create more babies in the grass?

Can you see? ~

The Lilac bush in the yard~

Smell of its sweet fragrance~

Even when you are afar?

Can you see? ~

The baby chipmunk sitting~

On the fumbley stone wall? ~

Can you see? ~

Once again~

I have to scare it off~

Before the cat catches him off guard?

I love watching those little guys hustling from branch to branch, spinning around a tree's trunk to remain hidden from sight...Your " babies in the grass " line caught my attention and imagination...lovely poetic scenes enhanced by your digital pictures...

Thank you for sharing your poetic talent with us...You have made my morning coffee that more enjoyable...Larry
