Call For Scary Stories and Strange Encounters
Have you ever captured a close encounter on camera?
Have you ever been "visited?"
If you have a ghost story you'd like to share, here's your opportunity to be published.
As a fellow aficionado of ghost stories and any story that gives you chills, I felt a calling to collect bone-chilling stories over the years. The result was my first version of "Real Ghost Stories and Strange Encounters."
Growing up in a family of first generation Eastern Europeans, I learned that tall tales are taken pretty seriously. Gypsies, ghosts and demons were a staple of my upbringing, as I listened attentively to the detailed stories told to me by relatives living in the land of Vlad Dracul, or "Dracula," as you might have it.
Perhaps a thirst for more due to my upbringing, or a sheer fascination for the "undead," I now call upon you, the good people of the world, to contribute stories for my next thrilling continuation.
If you are a teen who's had apparition visits, please reach out and tell me your story!
It's occurred to me numerous times that younger people are more likely to be "visited" by paranormal or extra-terrestrial experiences. Their innocence and lack of fear tends to invite those of us beyond life to come visit in a more relaxed, welcoming way.
Teenagers and children are far more likely to have poltergeist activity in their lives.
Have you ever felt "pinned down" while sleeping, not able to break free and wake up? Did you feel that an evil energy was upon you? In Hungary, they call that a "lidércnyomás."
It's not something you imagine. It occurs regularly, especially when you're under tremendous stress, anxiety, or are with a partner who exudes negative influence on your life.
As an example, here is what I've encountered:
It was a hot, humid summer evening. No one slept well during those summer nights, once the barometer reached 35 degrees Celsius. Fatigue and exhaustion had rendered me powerless for at least a few minutes to an hour when Hungary's beating sun drained the toughest of its people.
Not that I could remember anything that I dreamed in that glimmering few moments of heat exhaustion, coupled with caring for a newborn child, but I won't forget how I woke, or didn't. I remember being awake (conscious), like it was black and white. I had conversations in my head about what I need to do. I knew that my daughter would soon need to be fed or changed. But something wasn't right.
I couldn't wake up.
How could it be that I had a heightened sense of awareness during my summer nap slumber, yet there I lay like a stack of concrete, unbudged?
I struggled. My mind said, "move," and my limbs were dead numb. I got angry. Like when you're running in a dream, trying to escape a bad guy, only your motions are slow, sluggish and weak. Only this was even worse: I could not budge if a tornado was ripping this house apart!
What did I feel? Complete power over me. Like a black blanket had covered me and wherever it touched my skin became paralyzed. But this blanket touched every part of my skin. Only my mind was able to process anything.
After what seemed an eternity, but may have been only a few minutes, I woke up to a brisk scream. My (now ex) came to my side and asked why I became startled. I tried to explain, but all I could convey was sheer panic. I was never as fearful of anything as I was of this power that entrenched me during my rest.
I told him it was something evil. I hoped it would go away for good. But it wasn't quite done...
