Can You Feel My Pain?

Have you ever felt another person’s pain?

Facing the sun is blinding to the eye
But creates a shadow you refuse to see
Is this the only reality you desire
The one that includes you but forsakes me?

Have you ever thought of any life but your own?

Facing the moon is soothing to the eye
But your reflection is all you see
Is this the only reality you desire
The one that cares for you but not for me?

Have you ignored what you once believed to be right?

Facing the mirror is unsettling to the eye
But you only see what you want to see
Is this the only reality you desire
The one that lies to you but tells the truth about me?

Have you pardoned yourself as a means to atone?

Facing words of faith is troubling to the eye
But you only believe what you can see
Is this the only reality you desire
The one that casts no stones except at me?
