Cemetery

There's a cemetery across the way

Where spirits lurk about,

Calling out my name

In screams and shouts.

Eyes that stare deeply

Dark, full of secrets

As if they somehow know me

And the life I cannot deal with.

Their faces full of sneers,

Laughing directly at me

They chuckle at my tears

Full heartedly.

But in the distance

Where graves line up with the trees

There is but one who seems decent

Who understands me.

Her face is pale and saddened

Her body weak and frail

Of some horrid event

Her eyes tell a tale.

She gives me a slight nod my way

A simple encouragement

That makes all the others go away

Giving me time to vent.

To rage about painful sorrows

Hatred, anger, and of fear

To cry tears that won't end until tomorrow

But she is still near.

There's a cemetery across the way

I now smile every time I pass

For she is there to stay

And answered questions asked.

Maybe one day she will go

To the place meant for souls

But until then

She'll be my friend.
