When will I learn?

By Tony DeLorger © 2012

Enduring the final blows of reticence,

the pain before change, regarding circumstance,

is baring the brunt of life’s none too delicate suggestions.

Change is obligatory, foreseen and undeniable,

yet its course and difficulty is up to us to create,

with our acceptance or denial.

When life is ignored and change rejected,

the circumstance of action becomes unrelenting until taken,

and the jagged course of forced adaptation follows.

Far worse than the smooth flow of realised change,

denial pays the price in unexpected ways,

drawing out our darkest and most cloaked disharmonies.

We, as vulnerable and helpless beings,

succeed only in suffering moral and humiliating servitude,

to a universe that cares less about our plight.

Balance is therefore the counter to our dogged and deluded will,

holding fast to the unerring security of the devil known,

and suffering as a result.

Yet still I fall for my own denial,

my own inept view of myself and circumstance,

to be once again pounded by my inaction.

Fear is a blindfold we use to cling to our hopes for smooth transitions,

yet the changes needed are rarely smooth,

and second-hand, they bite and sting like a demon.

When will I learn?

Thanks Phyllis. Yes, in denial we can cause ourselves much unecessary pain and anguish. Yet we still resist change; I guess that's just being human. Take care

When will we all learn? Change, I have often read, is the only constant in life -- yet sometimes change brings so much pain to the heart. Demons torture when something so precious is lost. I have lost much by not being able to flow with change.

Great and enlightening thoughts you write, Tony. Thank you. Votes always up.

We grow as we know, and show as we go.The harder the head, the longer the road shall be. It takes more for some than it do others.

Tony - clearly - you ARE learning! You ask, you question, you press, you open, you seek! You are human - therefore you also deny - but are very well aware of your denial! It's a process. Loved this: "Far worse than the smooth flow of realised change, denial pays the price in unexpected ways,"

WOW - toooooo true! People prefer to run and hide - but - in the end - it hurts them in innumerable ways! Great hub! thank you voting upandA...tweeting2

great question Tony, often we pave our way to change for the better, yet we keep on backsliding, never really getting onward...awesome as always...
