The Feeling of Cold can make You do Strange things..

The wind was blowing when she left the city...

I believe it was twenty below...

Where she was going she already knew...

But... first she had things she had to do...

Get rid of the body that was clear....

There were no options, it had to disappear....

The heater was broken and blowing cold air...

She could feel the ice, building up in her hair..

She had cleaned up the blood as best she could...

As she had hit him hard with that log of wood...

All she had asked him, was to light a fire...

To take off the chill in the house....

Do it yourself if you are cold...he snapped

And while you’re at it get me a cold beer...from the fridge..

It was early morning when she finally arrived at the bridge..

This was his favourite fishing spot...

She pushed his body off the pier...along with his ice cold beer..

And suddenly began to shiver and sneeze.....

Oh well, she said...this too shall pass..

When I get to the Florida Keys..

PS..this is the first in a for part 2.."gator bait..the dream "

Hilarious, kj! We always get that sneaky feeling of victory when the "bad guy" gets his punishment, although it dies seem a bit extreme in this case. I love the way your heroines always seem to win out in their dire situations!

Oh dear my beautiful KJ - this reminded me of Robert Service's The shooting of Dan McGrew (please Google it and have a read you will love it) but I certainly love your evocative piece here and talk about Epi-twists you even beat the master at his own game because I never saw the Florida Keys coming and I love the line - she pushed his body off this pier ...along with his ice cold beer. How incredibly black in its humor and I love it - one of the best poems I've read here at the Hub in a LONG LONG time - and you have certainly taught Epi a thing or two - I am so impressed and obviously so inspired by your wickedly wonderful mind here - I think Hemmingway would be too, lol.

You are my lullaby dear friend as I am off to bed for a good sleep with my cats by my side

Big hugs from the three of us at lake erie time 11:29pm

kj force 3 years ago from Florida Author I have mentioned afore...I write what and how I perceive life... Hemmingway and his "writes"/lifestyle has always been an inspiration to me, and when years ago I visited his personal home in Key West, felt a connection... this was at a time when we were living in Maine, just down the way from Mr. King... the master of the " twisted " guess I got the best of both worlds.. Thank you for the lovely compliments.. I will undoubtly check out Robert Service , keep a lookout for further " Gator Baits"...try to stay warm..

Laura Schneider...glad you enjoyed, although it was a waste of some ice cold beer...but it was probably that rot gut kind....not a nice European lime/fruit one...which is served daily at the " Gator Bait " store...

Hi KjForceOfNature:

Whooo the wood, the body, the fire…will we be able to return to the fridge?

“Bloody men” makes you go stone…no wood…mad

You have struck a blow for equality that has the force of nature

And your nurturing came through, leaving him a cold beer in the end

Will the cockatiels get crocodiles to the scene on time

Well at least you didn’t add to the carbon pollution burden on the planet

Or was that what the “bloody man” was trying to avoid with a beer

Can’t beer to wait for the truth!!!!

Ausseye....Thank you for stopping by and commenting...obviously you appreciate the " tongue in cheek " humor that is my world and I appreciate that...recently I have been notified by HP that several of my writes will no longer be featured due to the fact the quality is below HP standards ( they have been published on HP for almost 2 years ) and will no longer be available on search engines either.... I write for fun, never for profit. Not sure at this time if I will continue to write on HP.

Thanks for your follow.
