Merry Christmas Poem

On this day

The bells start ringing

Echoing melodies aloud

As branches trade their leaves

For white sleeves

Candles on air flicker

As we hold onto the chandeliers of hope

On this day

Scarves are wrapped ever so tightly

Like gifts under a tree

As we sing carols ever so softly

As sweet as we know

Whilst a generation wait for the story

Only shared on this day

In keenness for the snow to fall

‘Cause without it, it doesn’t feel like Christmas at all

Christmas lights interweave in knots

Lighting up the streets

As families assemble round the table

With glasses full

On this day

A child stares ever so closely

With eyes wide open

Ears fiercely pierced on his bed

Waiting for the lonesome sound on the chimney

As darkness draws closer

Stars set the skies ablaze

Our world gets rewritten

New Year’s resolutions are reset

Only on this day

For you reading this

May all your troubles soon be gone

And may those Christmas lights keep shining

Merry Christmas!!
