Quiet Surrender

I was conquered completely whole

imprisoned in my own surrender

Like clay beneath the seductive eyes

of a sculptors imaginative splendor

She bedded me with such precision

her lips teasing with half a smile

And eyes that held the other half

twix the fading light and guile

Her voice fell in soft, warm whispers

as I drifted subdued beneath her hands

She moved as a humming bird

parting flower pedaled strands

Slipping into the silent invisible

with a smile that unleashed my fear

Her words fell like drifting feathers

fading softly at my ear

Is this your first colonoscopy

my dear?

Ohhhhhh! I wondered where this was going, and truly laughed out loud at that question. I have been there about four times, and am thankful for that "fading light" and the drifting away as well. This is a great one Alan!

I'm still chuckling over this one. What a great description. I've been there a few times and know the feeling. The clever wording ( poetry) is just super.

Terror filling and hillarious both! Ironically I am awaiting an appointment day and time for my first colonoscopy at VA, lol, or not.

That is 'rich', as my dad would say, laughing heartily. (You rascal, you!)

Does your doctor really look like the illustration, (shudder!) - or is that your distorted view from the operating table BEFORE the anesthesia takes hold?

Since it's taken us down this intimate path this far, it does beg answer to the question it asks; - -so was it your virgin colonoscopy?

Thanks Jim, Something in me refuses seriousness these days. I've decided to roll with it. Talk soon.

Actually, it was a breeze. I respond so dutifully to anesthesia.

Anyone trespassing on such private estate looks like that, especially when asking you to count backwards from 10. It was my 3rd. It isn't the colonoscopy that bothers me. Its exposing ownership of my bottom to a doctor late for golf. I fear he will get his golf utensils confused with his bottom utensils!

OHMYGOSH. You've missed your calling as a supreme humorist, you know! I laughed again at your comment. Giggling, still. Apparently the doc kept his golf utensils out of his reach in the O.R.! Probably didn't have time in his rush to get them properly sterilized for application to your - er - bottom. Perhaps he'd encountered confusion before and had learned safety-first.

Luckily. You seem to have survived nicely, at any rate-- and lived to tell the - -- er - tail, - tale? Oh, my.

Your post is just great in every respect, i.e., poetry, picture, humor, and subject matter. I'm not much of a poet, but you now have me thinking of how I might come up with something clever to post about my daily radiation treatments for prostate cancer.

Such a gorgeous failmy! Looks like a really fun session. I love the feet shot! That's really cute that they brought their dog along too. Great work.
