Compromised- Ode to an Evil Ex.

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

Atoned by the velvet tones of lies,

a purpose trimmed, a self despised,

with empty steps and truth allude,

to wasted dreams and wants pursued.

Jealous souls of deep regret,

of lives corrupt and joy bereft,

do follow those of hopes alive,

and crush their dreams for pleasured sigh.

To take control and harm at will,

for reason none, for spite and ill,

their hatred venting sour lives,

a thread to life so thin, denied.

For they are empty and seeking worth,

in control and hurt their secret mirth,

their venom all that life rewards,

of failed beings and loveless hordes.

In truth these dark and weary souls,

have nothing in life, an empty hole,

filled with darkness a joyless void,

like all they know and seek, destroyed.

Their ending sure and just deserts,

await their spiralling hatred hurt,

to compromise the lives of right,

for spite alone shall pay the price.

Balance will reign.

I really like the lines "Their ending sure and just desserts,/await their spirraling hatred hurt,/to compromise the lives of right,/for spite alone shall pay the price./Balance will reign.". It's true that in the end, evil and hatred only harms the one who spews it and carries it. Awesome poem, and I voted "Up"!
