Confidence- A Poem
Why must you disappear on me so quick?
As soon as you come, you leave
The air grows dreary and thick
And I cannot breathe.
Why do you make me feel so strong
That I can face anything
Then you abandon me, things go wrong
And I cannot do a thing.
Without you here everything about me isn't right,
There is nothing that I can think of that I like.
No fortitude, no greatness, nothing in sight
I can't even put up a fight.
Please come back to me
For I can lift my head up high again
And people can finally see
Their true friend.
What This Poem Is About
Everyday is a constant battle for me and many people out there who have a mental illness. For me confidence can be there but just as quickly as it comes it will disappear and there will be nothing about myself that I will like. Within this poem I wrote to confidence as if it is a person, begging for it come back to me. I think many people wish that they had confidence in themselves. You are not alone, nobody ever is.
