Crossroads...On The Road Musings.

Crossroads.-on the road musings.

All my life spent in search
of something more concrete
chasing brighter horizons
yet still set in my ways
watching dreams rushing by me
in a blur..just like billboards
faded...bent down and worn..
all those places unvisited
there was no time to stop...
on my long one-way journey
headed for middle-age
Now my life is half-spent
and I still find myself
rushing on in a blur
now on something more concrete
that is stretching before me
to endless horizons
searching places unvisited
my ways set before me
time stops for no one
yet those billboards entice me
promising me sweet dreams
of brighter horizons
exit....just round the bend....
But now I am fading
bent down and worn
now I'm chaste as I journey
down that long one-way road
leading off to that place
that we all know as aging
that we seek to....
There's a marker that's waiting
in the miles left before me
that will highlight my exit
from thje road dust of life
with a sigh I will drift
without hopes of a by-pass
round that bend to a place
only visited once
and forever remain
'neath a more concrete setting
long past aging and pain
off the road spent in life.
