I stepped on a Crunchy Leaf

Prince Fredward is a cat who loves his crunchy leaves!
Prince Fredward is a cat who loves his crunchy leaves!

My favorite season is Autumn.

I live in Pennsylvania, and the colors here are brilliant. Between the golds and crimsons, I never know where to focus. I could stare out over the forests and rolling hills of the Appalachians forever. What I love even more? When the leaves finally fall. You know anyone who can resist the next step?

Here's a poem about how I'm one of those who can never resist:

I stepped on a Crunchy Leaf

I stepped on a crunchy leaf today.
Its wrinkles?
They were indeed wrinkly.

The crunches, they crunched,
and sounded a bunch
as I stepped off the leaf and away.

The echoing crush
sent a clamor, a mush
through the bustling, gentle airwaves.

Then a resounding hush,
which came in a rush,
stopped my stomping game.

The colours of leaves in the autumn are gorgeous. I don't step on them, but I love to press them and save them.

It is a sound that I like very much....it reminds me of playing in the front yard as a kid. Nice hub.

Great poem. It caught me from the beginning. I loved the flow of it. It reminds me of all of the huge pilesof leaves my sister and I would gather to jump and play in.

Really like this poem :) I love autumn. Love all the sights and smells. It is so hot here in the midwest that I can't wait for autumn to come back!

This poem was like a dream. I LOVE the fall time! I'm too big now, but I remember VOLUNTEERING to rake the leaves just to jump into them. AHHH- memories. Voted up and awesome.

@FloraBreenRobison: Oh, nice! =) I hope your collections of leaves flourish. Thanks for reading!

@Cogerson: It reminds me of the same. =) Thanks so much!

@Reena J: Thanks! =) Glad I can bring out good memories.

@will345davis: Thanks so much! =) I specifically focused on rhythm.

@Kari_24: Lol I bet it's hot there! If the humidity is anywhere as bad as it is here, I sympathize. I can't wait for autumn either. =) Thanks for reading!

@Roy Perrin: Hahaha xD I definitely used to volunteer for the same reason! Now I use the kids I babysit as excuses to do it. =) You know, I'm just doing what THEY want to do! Haha, thanks so much for the comment. ^_^

I am amazed at how many things you've written about that I relate to, too....crunchy leaves is a BIG deal to me...love to step and hear the crackle and pop. There's nmothing like walking along, coming upon a pile of leaves and stepping right in the middle of them....total satisfaction! i love the sound of mowing lawn when the blades snap and crackle! Storms, kitties, leaves...the stuff of so much fun. Ups all around!!
