Cubical Love

Positive Thoughts

If your heart today is broke and empty and tears flow down then let things do just that. But, do not be caught up in despair. For tomorrow the sun will rise and your heart will fill with all the world’s love and joy that is still waiting out there.

Cubical Love

Every day I pass your office

I am interrupted

Loudly by a sign

That exclaims,

“Do not tap on the glass.”

I abide every time.

I always consider to do otherwise.

Every day that I pass you by,

I see your eyes glued to

Two monitor screens.

Your work exposed.

Your research seen.

What happen to that picture of us on your desk top?

What do the graphs mean?

Do they plot our course?

I seen one through the window

Last week that went sharply up.

Every day I pass your office

I notice your lights are always, always turned off.

When you left, how far did you go?

Are you ever home?

You must be

Because I know your brain is always turned on.

I remember.

I did not forget.

Every day that I pass you by

You give so much concentration

To those letters that form those words that compile those phrases,

That make those paragraphs and that construct whole works

That are displayed on those monitor screens.

Anyone would be of want of

That much attention.

I know I was never that easy to read.

How much attention did you really give to those works that were Me?

Every day I pass your office

The wind whips another leaf off

That aspen tree

By the picnic table

On the far side of the patio

Where we last took hold of

Each other’s eyes.

Where we thought about the future.

Where that final text message

Was sent and not deleted.

Every day…
