DOGGONIT TWO

I'll tell you, Lord, which path I want!

Too cold, Lord
Too cold, Lord
Too foggy, Lord
Too foggy, Lord
Can't see around the bend, Lord
Can't see around the bend, Lord
Lord, I will tell you when we get there. I have great dreams, Lord
Lord, I will tell you when we get there. I have great dreams, Lord
Yes, Lord, I know all about footprints
Yes, Lord, I know all about footprints
Can we just do away with all the stop signs, Lord
Can we just do away with all the stop signs, Lord
Hey, what's with the fence? Are you trying to scare me, Lord?
Hey, what's with the fence? Are you trying to scare me, Lord?
And, of course, I want someone to come along, Lord, maybe You.
And, of course, I want someone to come along, Lord, maybe You.
Why do you always have to slow me down, Lord. I was just getting up to speed.
Why do you always have to slow me down, Lord. I was just getting up to speed.
Yes, Lord, I want to ride off or sail off into the sunset. You got one of those, Lord?
Yes, Lord, I want to ride off or sail off into the sunset. You got one of those, Lord?

DOGGONIT TWO

Yes,
I read the silly email.
"Dear Vern,
Today,
I will be handling
All of your problems.
Guess what?
I do NOT need your help.
So, have a nice day."

How many times have you sent that to me?
You gotta be kidding, right?
That email isn’t serious.
Just divine humor, right?

And you know,
I have a real problem with being clay,
You know that, right?
And I suppose You,
You know, the big One, God,
It’s got to be a little humbling
Seeing yourself as a potter?

No?
Come on, get a grip.
Throwing mud on a wheel.
That’s beneath your greatness,
No?

You know,
I also like that other part of the silly email.
"If life happens to deliver a situation
You cannot handle,
Do NOT," You insist,
"Try to resolve it yourself.
Rather, put it in my box,
The something-for-God-to-do box.
And I will get to it,
I assure you.
Unfortunately, I will get to it
In my time, not yours."

So yes,
That brings me a little relief, Lord.

But the reason
I’m having this conversation,
Well,
I am on this journey with you, Lord.
Yes, of course,
You already know all about it.
But I want this journey,
To follow that path
Right there.
That one, Lord.
And yes, I get it.
It will no longer be
Our journey then,
But mine.

"Put it in the box."

Doggonit,
I knew you would say that.

Put it in the box
(Spoken mischievously and sarcastically).
No, I don’t mean to make fun of you.
I just hate hearing those words.

But okay,
In the box.

Doggonit.

Hey Vern, how goes it brother? I may be missing hubs now that they have that new way to tell me about them. Everything changes, damn it :-P Actually that's a good thing, keeps us from boredom. I try not to ask the Lord for much 'cause it seems like I get what I need (sort of) and if I don't I figure there's got to be a reason for that too. We must be doing something right, we're still here....come to think of it maybe that's not as good a thing as I thought! Glad you're well and thanks for you input on that hostile last hub of mine. Peace and good health bro!! Tom

Hi Tom

I am becoming more and more at home these days with "receiving" and living each moment and each day as a precious gift. I still worry and try to make it all work MY way, but getting better at letting go of that and I too seem to get what I need, so I feel blessed and at peace most of the time. Yea, I never did email you to find out what was with the response to your hub!! Man, life can't be that serious!!

Love you

Peace

Vern
