Daedalus, Icarus, Thrice

Honestly, I don't know if this could be called a poem. I don't really have a name for it. It was an overload of thoughts flowing out of me into words. What came out, was pretty interesting...

Seven years I lived my life, fading from reality. Crossing into machinery. Robotics with which I am so unfamiliar. Machined, greased, lubricated parts. Built with a purpose. A meaningless purpose. Destined for failure.

A broken down machine I stand. Sit. Lay. Run. Work. Play. Slide. Cursed and wretched as the demons which haunt the dreams of the fallen. I rise above. Skyrocketing through reason. Through the seventh layer of Heaven and Hell. On a false sense of cloud nine I currently float…awaiting the plummet.

Its falling away from me. I sail through a shattered sea of broken glass. I closed my eyes and the tears could not flow. Blocked by my eyelids, restricting emotion. After all of this, I am amazed. The wall could be broken. Forgotten faded memories of which I have no say.

Of past. Of present. Of gifts. Of futures. Of lists. Lists of black. Hit lists in my head. I live in my head. I am not what I wish. I am what I’m not. I am what I dream. A scream. A cry. Laying here, blank as the page on which I cannot create a scene. A scene behind my eyes, yet I cannot attain it on paper. These words flow meaninglessly, but not slow.

Daedalus, Icarus, Thrice. Three times I roam. Randomized plains of thought, laid out on a digital page. Keys, not a pen. Ones and Zeros, not ink. Screens, not pages. Neat, not sloppy…yet my words do not understand one another… nor do I….

If we make the mainland, this song would not be made. Epic beauty, formed through misfortune and tragedy. Oh son…I beg you…keep a steady wing. For you are the only one who means anything to me. My wings are made of melting, shredding, fading elements. The sun, heating, lighting, someday dying. I understand that nothing is as it may seem. Nor is any seam as true as the seamstress believed. The Gods did not take the only thing which meant anything to you, father of legend. Your son is not dead…only afire. Acquired by the forces you believed to be merciful.

23. I will be 24 this year, in Nov. god I'm getting old lol. I want to get into photography too. I'm just lazy and afraid of failure and I procrastinate entirely too much.

lol. awww. i think you could do it. It might take a lot longer than a person who sits there and does nothing but write all day, itll take about as long as its taking me to get one finished. but It is something i really want to get done, and I would love to get published!

yea i have no problem finishing poems. usually within a couple of minutes. doesnt take long, yea same here the words just pour out, sometimes i have to sit and think about my next line but usually just comes right out, and i can get an idea like at any time, a verse will just pop in my head, and i have to like hurry up and write it down before i forget. i just have trouble sticking with a long story cuz i work all day so i dont really take the time to just sit and write , for a novel you have to have a lot of free time on your hands. some people take years to finish a book.

One thing about the way I write...I typically finish them within 30 mins of starting.

Its like it comes naturally for it to just pour out in one complete thought/idea/concept

The only exception to this is "a short introduction"

well maybe u should try. never know how far u can get. everytime i try to start a novel or something, i get lazy and forget about it. but I am currently working on a vampire love story, i know how cliche, but i think its good, has potential. Im up to ch. 5. short chapters though, I need to start writing on it again. I always get great Ideas for stories but never can seem to finish em.

Wow, I never thought of that.

I have never written anything much longer than a full page.

Thank you though :]

...well I`ve been accused of not writing proper poetry by the pretentious crowd here - lol lol - I am an anti-poet who is trying to subvert and deconstruct the genre - so I would say to you Ben - to follow your heart and mind - and write in any style that you want - because the bottom line - is the words - however you choose to display them - and you certainly display them extremely well and the poetic blood is definitely in your artistic DNA - great writing is great writing and it`s a niche in which you excel !!!!!
