Damaged but Strong

The sun didn't shine on my side of the street

So I purchased a flashlight

The moon adopted me like a forgotten child

and I became a ward of the night

Not always righteous, not always perfect

I did some peculiar things

Starting on the bottom and working my way up

I developed unbreakable wings

Wings of dirt, mud, and sand

Flying above the self-righteous ones

A guardian angel for our abused daughters

and a mother to motherless sons

And now that I glow with a blinding light

the sun has envy for me

For my light shines on love and compassion

and I have all the joy that I need

Well I for one adore soiled angels. They work for common good of others. Nice poem girl! Welcome to HP. Peace, CC
