Dark muse....A poem

Dark muse where have your whispers gone

Why do I sit alone in the dark

My pen still against the page at the coming dawn

Frustrated disbelief filling my tired heart

I can no longer see the dark creatures dance

The paths once open now closed to my eyes

Lost in this mind numbing trance

Can you not hear my forlorn cries

No more do the vampires sit and talk

Their strange stories filling my page

No more do the monsters come to walk

To play in the lights of my stage

How I miss the soft touch of the dead

And the enthralling chorus of the lost night

Yet no words of yours fill my head

No dark wonders in my sight

Nothing stirs in the undergrowth

There are no howls at the moon

No ancient broken lost oaths

No fortune tellers with their cursed runes

Twisting doubt burns through every pore

As I uselessly call for you

To write like I did once before

To myself again be true

I beg of you please dark muse

To again whisper in my ear

With tales of darkness and betrayed taboos

Of creatures that fill us with fear

Let my pen again drain dry

As the paths open once more

Let the angels and demons fill my sky

As you finally answer my call

Nicely done. I'm in a bit of a rut myself but I've been so busy that I have no idea what to write. Voted this up!

I'm so glad you liked it :) it seems to have taken being reminded of my own advice recently to write out my writers block that helped to create this new piece...

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you too find a way through your rut

Such a great job describing the frustration of writer's block.

V+/Share. I am sure others can relate to this frustration as well.

Although I understand the feeling, I must say that if you are able to write something like this, your creativity must not have dried up completely. Magnificent poem!

Well, fabulous for a writer suffering writers block. I do find writing poems removes the stubborn knots in my brain. Playing with words, rhyme, inside the structure of a specific form.

Nighthag, I hope you are fine :)

Thanks Kim

I've been trying to ignore my writers block hoping it would just disappear, it was great to finally conquer my own self imposed hurdle a little.

The struggles of a writer are all ones I happily share with others here at hubs.

Thanks so much for the votes and share:)

Writers block is a terrible headspace which I know others can relate to (unfortunately)

I was so thrilled just to find the finish of a poem and I am even more delighted that others enjoy my frustrated journey of words

Thank you so very much for your very kind words!

It still surprises me how much I enjoy the process of writing poetry, the beauty that few well placed words can bring is indescribable at times.

And writing out my writing block seems to help

even if I'm writing about writers block :)

And I'm ok, things have a bit askew in my world this year but things are starting to even out now. Bring on 2014 !!!

nighthag, I'm glad you visited my hub, so that I would then come and read this fine poem. A very memorable line for me is,

No more do the monsters come to walk

To play in the lights of my stage

The times of writer's block are trying. I work through it, but I wouldn't claim to have a real strategy. Thanks for putting down in writing how many of us feel at times.
