Daughter Lost

Daughter Lost

The thoughts upon my head tremble in terror.
I had already lost hope, like I knew...
Her clothes stained crimson and her cheeks gray-blue.
I cannot help but think, what caused this horror?

Where had I been when I should have been there?
Thoughts splashed away, I could only assume.
Creaks in the twilight had left me in tomb.
I longed for God to resurrect my heir.

Gashes, everywhere, it was quite a sight.
In the darkness a predator prevails.
He’s a coward. I looked down, feeling frail.
Then I saw my hand, and it clutched a knife.

It's a bit on the dark side, but well written with a sharp twist and i enjoyed reading it. Bravo
