Day by Day: A Poem

Source

Day by day...

We go together hand and hand...

in the sun or the rain...

in the happiness or pain...

in the pride or the shame...

You transform me day by day...

As I exhale my sin and inhale your grace,

What a great trade,

My offbeat addictions, for your narrow, steady pace

You filter my soul of impurity,

You show me how to be the real me,

Oh to be a friend of Deity!

Day by Day...

You lay out part of the master plan...

Sometimes I choose to go your way...

Sometimes I choose to go astray...

But still you offer your nail-scarred hand...

in the sun or the rain...

in the happiness or the pain...

in the pride or the shame...

You transform me day by day.

Very thought provoking.

Some intriguing imagery from smoking there (inhale/exhale), too.

Blessings

The picture is as moving as the poem. We are not alone in all our tribulations. He helps us maintain peace and you communicated this so very well.

YW. I like that line: 'Oh to be a friend of Deity!' It's all part of the mystery of the incarnation: John 1.14; 1 Timothy 3.16.

Blessings.
