Death Was So True

It was so dark,

I really couldn’t see,

the night struck such a chord

of terror in me,

I felt myself going mad,

I think it absorbed

all the capacity of terror I had,

the light refused to help me,

even after I insisted,

the terror just persisted,

and my blood would slowly drain,

exploding, vein after vein,

and I felt a sharp pain,

, shoot through my hip,

it was insane,

as I couldn’t slow the quiver

in my lower lip,

here life and death met,

and I had so much regret,

standing alone now with my heart dry,

and my eyes wet,

I would cry and cry,

knowing that death was so true,

and my life was just a lie.

I don't think you know how your writing hits me. Your descriptions take a hold of me and produce your work visually. I can see it sometimes more clearly than I would like. Your words make me an empath which is a good thing but this one hurt.

Frank, I lost a friend to cancer today and your words like arrows pierce.. I am left wondering do we really care about the kind of life we live or do we live each day as it comes, not caring so much about each decision we make... Great work here Frank. Your poems are always food for thought! Be a blessing! Peace!

Fascinating work Frank! It is my personal belief that death does not exist until we have experienced it ourselves... for example, no child thinks about their death or life ending until they are affected by it. Death is a truth that hits everyone and can never be forgotten once experienced.
