Devotees

I gather you around me like agates from the beach
Pearls among the plain gravel of the sand
Sparkling, pulsing independent stars beating within

Here, protected, loved, admired
Within this circle
I sit strong and vibrant

Awakened and stirring sensually
I am joyous in your glow, each
Reflecting back my adoration

In my hand I hold you, unawares
Your power over me
Shining upon my soul

The forgotten cloud, predictably surprises
Erasing the sun that lighted my collected orbs
Leaving me ashamed and lonely

Unable to keep you within my unlit sphere
You are washed back into the sea
To love and be adored by my charmed successor

Lovely Randy! Thumbs up. "Predictably surprises" - love that! Love the whole thing, for that matter.

Ah, I miss the sea..

ajcor, I do try to live in the now and be perceptive of all the tactile details. That is why the clouds sneak up on me.

Pearls on the surface but also calls to mind the way it feels to have a new and devoted fan on hubpages, only to know that eventually they'll have to retract back into their own lives. Could summarize a love relationship, for that matter.

You have experimented with a variety of poetic styles. This was is unique from anything else you've written. Very cool.

Hmmmm, I don't mean to have different styles. Maybe I'm influenced by what I've read at that time, or something. I haven't been schooled in it like you. I'm just winging it. I'm the unexpected tomatoe plant that appears in the middle of the tidy rows of radishes... a volenteer, I think they call them.

You almost nailed this one.
