Outlander TV Series Coming Soon Spring 2014

At last! The TV Series made by Starz is coming our way in the Spring of 2014. There has been a lot of speculation about who is going to play hotty Jamie Frasier. Well wonder no more. The choice has been made. Its Scottish actor, Sam Heughan.

And it seems that Tobias Menzies will play the dark role of Claire's husband Frank Randall, and also his ancestor, Black Jack Randall.

So far there has been no announcment of who is going to play Claire. The Outlander books by Diana Gabaldon are extraordinary in the fact that they are so real, so indepth and so true to life.

The story seems to leap from the page as you read. The sights, smells, horrors of war, and the true to life characters are so real you feel that you could reach out and touch them.

With each page packed full of humor and sadness, gut wrenching scenes and intense love, this is going to be a hard act to follow. I just hope that all the actors who are chosen to play in this amazing epic will be able to bring the characters to life. Purely because there are a hell of a lot of fans out there who will be watching avidly.

With over 20 million copies sold around the world you can bet that this is going to be one hell of a hit.

For anyone one of you who have no idea what or who I am talking about, where have you been?

Here's the list of books in the series. Start reading, cos you are going to be blown away!

Note: Cross Stitch (Uk) Outlander (US) Same book, different title.

This book horrifies me. I have no problem with sex in books. I have no problem with books that are simply fun reads with no thought provoking ideas or moral lessons. I totally respect that people have different taste in books. I like many different types of books. I love history, especially Scottish history. I love to be entertained when reading. I love learning while I read. For all of these reasons, I decided to try reading Outlander. I had to stop reading less than half way through. This book affected me on a visceral level and I cannot get it out of my head, in a very negative way. My stomach literally turns when I think this book. The main female character is an abused woman. The main male character is abusive. Regardless of the historical accurateness of the book, it saddens me that we are praising a book where the main female character allows herself to be abused. She agrees that she did not obey her husband and understands why he has to beat her. As a woman, teacher, and mother, the acceptance of this book terrifies me. Why do we still allow ourselves to be objectified and abused, even in literature?

Hi Kasey, I am totally confused, are you sure you are reading Diana Gabaldons series? I have read all the books and haven't seen anything at all like this in it. The main female character Claire is a nurse from the 1940s, and the main male character is strong lovely and a really sweet guy. He has never ever beaten her! not sure which book you read, can you tell me more? thanks.

Hi Nell Rose,

I began reading the series just around the same time Starz began the first season on TV. I agree that Sam Heughan is a hottie! I can't get enough of Claire and Jaime. I feel sorry for those who had to wait years in between as the author took so much time to write her books, although it must be hard to research so much.

I read another thread, on Amazon I think, where a woman compared this series to Fifty Shades of Grey. I think the scene where Jamie has to punish Claire is being misinterpreted. People need to recall this is Scottish life in another time period, and that Claire put a lot of people in danger by moving away from where Jamie told her to stay, to try to protect her. I heard they used a double in the TV series, as the actress wouldn't do the scene either. I hope Diana Gabaldon ends the series with her last book. I just began Written in My Own Heart's Blood. I'd love to see all the books on TV, but it will take years.

Hi Jean, its definitely not fifty shades! the writing is amazing, so is the story line, not sure what scene that is, I will have to buy the dvds, can't wait! I haven't read My Own Hearts... yet, I am not sure if its even over here yet, but its a great series isn't it? well the books anyway, thanks Jean, nell
