Did We Not/As Much As It Hurts

An old photo I took of my friend Amanda and Mike, who are no longer together. These poems have nothing to do with them just chose it to express them.
An old photo I took of my friend Amanda and Mike, who are no longer together. These poems have nothing to do with them just chose it to express them.

Did We Not?

Did we not dance in the moonlight?
Did we not share a lonely kiss?
Did we not say our goodbyes,
after our late night tryst?

Did we not make love?
Did we not see the sunrise?
Did we not part ways,
with tears in our eyes?

As Much As It Hurt

As much as it hurt,
I had to let go,
of the past and our love,
a flame set aglow.

As much as it hurt,
I had to move on.
If I were to ever heal,
I had to accept you were gone.

Sad but beautifully written words, Nikki. Your poetry always makes me think about things so much. Having to part ways with a loved one is so hard to bare. But the river of life is rich and teems in life and possibilities.

Have a sweet day, Nikki.

Yep though our hearts may be frozen for awhile the river still flows and eventually our hearts will thaw to a new love but the memories will always be there.
