Discovering your Yes from God
The Gospel of Yes by Mike Glenn
The Gospel of Yes is an interesting journey that Mike Glenn takes you on. His view on how God says yes too many things that we as believers haven’t acknowledged yet or choose to ignore, is a study on where we put our viewpoint when dealing with God and the world we live in.
Brad Paisley offered this statement in The Gospel of Yes, “Mike Glenn is my pastor, friend, and counselor. He is the right person to author a book about a positive approach to the power and purpose of Jesus Christ. Mike’s emphasis on changing our negative views to those things positive was evident back when I first met him. Now, in The Gospel of Yes, he has given all of us the ‘yes’ that he instilled in me.”
Glenn takes you through fifteen chapters of how ‘yes’ can change your outlook on life and with a section on going deeper with God’s yes it allows you to have an open conversation with others about God’s yes. In the first chapter Glenn reminds us of John 3:17, “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
Glenn goes on to tell us how Christians tend to keep a scorecard of their good and bad deeds, along with the idea that most can tell you what their against better than what they are for. He puts this book into perspective with this quote, “I believe God wants us to live in that zone (yes), experiencing a lifetime of moments where identity, destiny, and opportunity come together in a resounding “yes” of moaning and joy. This book is about finding your “yes” and having the guts to live it.”
Mike Glenn tells us the entire “yes’s” of God throughout this book and how we have been programed (so to speak) by the world around us to believe the “no” over the “yes”. It’s an enjoyable read and enlightening but a word of warning, when you read this book you will be highlighting a lot and taking many notes.
Note: This book was given to me free from the WaterBrook Multnomath for the purpose of this review.
