Distant Strangers

Do you remember me from a past not

too long ago

Have my presence not been felt enough

or is it just your ego

That keeps us as distant strangers

in a city and neighborhood so close by

My love

Why do you have to lie?

Be honest for once and tell me the truth

I’ll respect you more each passing day

But for now let us be distant strangers

as I wipe these tears away
