Does Anyone Have the Right to Take Anothers´Life? (Excluding combat)

Who has the right to take anothers´life?

Who gave the orders with true authority?

Billions of humans living different lives,

Who has the right to say who lives or dies?

Some women carry water, after drawing from a well,

Some are rolling grain on stone, pummelling the husk,

Others turn a tap and from it water´ll rush.

´click click´ of designer heels, smart as she can be.

Both work hard in their own way,one result they want to see.

To feed their families.

But who has the right to end it all?

Who has the right to cause her fall?.

Is life so cheap that it´s no matter

when someone decides...´´I´ll end this life?´´

But who has the right?.

Not me.

very interesting write, this question never enters the mind when you are faced with the situation of you or me . Will you let this person kill you in a life or death struggle or will i kill you? to kill someone in a different situation is something that no person has the right to do, but many people are killed for no reason, all over the world and to try to reason what is in their sick logic, is not a idea that any reasonable person can really fathom.

Another question is does a country have the right to force you to take lives? Apparently they do. Never seemed right to me.

A fascinating subject, one I wrote on a little while ago. For some it seems so easy to do....why is that? Is there no better way to handle situations than to kill? Is that what civilization has come to?

Well done Dim?

Hi cleaner3, Thnk you for commenting.

I´m sure it would be an extremely difficult thing to do.... to take a life. Yet for many it seems easy.

thank you Pollyannlana. You pose a valid question.

People should be allowed to refuse to go to war,I think.

It may sound naive, but if nobody would go to fight, I don´t think the politicians would do it, so ....no war...

thanks billybuc I truly appreciate your comment.

Civilisation seems to mean we´ve found more efficient ways of killing eachother, since the bow and arrow.

dim, people are allowed to to refuse to go to war and refuse to kill for their country. but in many circumstances they are penalized with incarceration and branded as traitors. this only brings up more philosophical questions such as what if your country was being invaded, your way of life was being destroyed would you kill for your childrens future and freedom ?

Thanks cleaner3,

I guess it was inevitable that this hub would have to cover war as well as individul crime. You´re right I know some people who suffered for being conscientious objectors during WW2. I honestly don´t have the anwer to the many questions that arise from this hub.

I know I would fight to the death for my children.

Thank you so much for commenting with such interesting remarks.

When can we have coffee and talk it over ?

anytime you want darling, it would be my pleasure to have coffee and have conversation with a beautiful and intelligent loving thoughtful woman.

Hi cleaner3 again. I´vé just realised I tried to avoid mixing war with individuals who think they have a right to kill any one annoying them, by inserting ( Except combat) in the title.

See I think too much. I am going slightly crazy.

Most interesting. Such a difficult question. Both a poem and a riddle. Very nice. Why exclude combat, it's the 21st century.

Its my belief that killing is absolutely against the laws of creation and the universe: for a person, for a nation, and for a world. The only exceptions are for self-defense of one's life or others and that should always be a last resort. Until we as human beings on planet Earth get that fact in our hearts and consciousness and turn from being viewed as barbarians- were not really going anywhere much out of this solar system. But if one day we do turn from the wrong path to the right path the stars themselves will welcome us.

An extremely interesting piece of writing.

For someone to deliberately take another life for no particular reason is against everything I believe in as a human being.

There is a list; war criminals, mafia, gangland killings, jealousy killings, drunk driving killings, wrongly executed killings, mental illness killings, revenge killings. There are probably more.

I will never ever understand how someone can actually take a life unnecessarily. There could be arguments about mental health acts of murder or revenge murder. Revenge they say is sweet! Is it? On the spur of the moment you may just knife or shoot someone because they have taken someone you loved away forever or hurt someone you love badly. If any of my close family were deliberately hurt or murdered for no reason at all, it would take a lot of self control for me not to go after the person responsible; especially where my children or grandchildren were concerned. Normally I am not at all a violent person and hate the very meaning of the word.

Phew! Now I have that out of the way I think your poem is excellent.

Hi mckbirdbks. I excluded Combat in the sense that I feel for young men sent to war thinking they are doing the right thing to save their country, their families from the enemy. Sadly it seems politicians decide who the énemy ´is.

Dear Alastar,

I agree with you 100%. In fact much of what you write and comment on is exact how my husband and I feel.

Thank you for the comment.

I appreciate your lovely long comment..

The poem is interesting Dim, I would say that the ONLY time taking a life is justified is in self defense or defense of another, but the situation would have to be at the extreme. There are almost always other options.

Voted Up.

I think some people believe this world would be a better place without the poor and needy. It saddens me when people spend thousands of dollars on frivolous things when there are some people still dying of starvation.

Hi Phillydreamer,

Thank you for your comment. The unfairness of this world also saddens me.

All we can do is our own little part., in being kind and helpful wherever possible.
