I am a writer of poetry and fiction. I especially love flash fiction. My name is Ruby, and I live in Southern Illinois. I am a retired R.N.

Days passed. The world was watching the story unfold on T.V.

She was drifting off to sleep when a loud knock at the door startled her. " Now who can that be this late at night? " Quickly donning her robe, then peering through the peephole, she sees a policeman looking glum.

Beverly is a young woman twenty five and has lived alone since graduating from college. She is beautiful in a sophisticated kind of way. Long brown hair that she keeps pulled up with several types of clasps. Sparkling brown eyes, a petit body with just the right amount of curves in the right places.

Her job is the assistant editor at the local, small town newspaper.

She's single by choice, never completely finding anyone that even came close to her expectation's. Her mother and father were good, down to earth people who owned a small mom and pop grocery store in the town where she and her only brother, Ken were born.

Ken is two years older, and a world traveler working for The International Peace Corps.

She opened the door expecting some kind of fearful news, and she was right. The policeman informed her that her brother's airplane was missing. Bev cried out in despair, " Have you told mom and dad? " He told her that he thought she would want to tell them. She thanked him and quickly dressed, driving to their home across town. After telling them, they all held each other tightly and said a silent prayer.

Days passed. The world was watching the story unfold on national T V.

Bev thought of their childhood when she and Ken were so very close, telling each other what they wanted to do when they grew up. She remembered Ken always saying, " I want to travel and see the world. "

They were raised in a family who believed the old cliché, " Those who pray together, stay together. "

It wasn't long before Isis claimed responsibility for the missing aircraft when debris of the crash were spotted afloat in the Caspian Sea.

Six months had passed when Bev began to have nightly dreams. They were always about the same man. They would meet in a hide-away place and talk into the wee hours, making plans for a future together and making passionate love. When she awoke she felt embarrassed. She'd never had these feelings before.

Tonight she'd gone to bed early and was sleeping soundly when she was awakened by a hard knock on the door. Thinking, " Now who can that be at this late hour? " She donned her robe, peered through the peephole and saw a man who looked somewhat familiar, but his back was turned toward the door. She turned the porch light on and yelled, " Turn around so I can see who you are! "

Ken turned around, smiling, hardly able to contain his excitement. She opened the door and they fell into each others arm's, Laughing and crying hysterically.

He told her about his survival. He'd managed to swim ashore. The lifesaver he had on saved his life. He was the only survivor. When he finally reached shore he passed out from complete exhaustion.

When he awoke, he was looking into the eye's of an Isis terrorist who was on the run from the so called ' evil forces ' He told Ken that he'd made a terrible mistake joining the group, all he wanted to do was go back home to America.

They both were picked up by an American airplane and taken to a place where they were interrogated and placed in confinement until they were cleared.

Ken asked Bev, " Do you want to meet my friend Johnny? " She was completely surprised and yelled, " Yes, oh yes. " He went to the door and motioned for Johnny who was patiently waiting in the car. When he entered the room she ran to him, holding him in her arms. When she pulled back and looked into his eye's she was speechless. He was the man in her reoccurring dreams.

They all went to mom and dad's house for a reunion filled with unspeakable joy.

bev looked at Johnny and said, " Do you remember me? Oh never mind. I have a story to tell you that will blow your mind!!
