Drool - A Silly Little Poem From My Dog Bruce

"Bruce" On a good day
"Bruce" On a good day | Source

Yes I drool

I know you don't think it's cool

You wipe my mouth with paper towels

I see how it makes you scowel

When you brush my neck

To get out all the stickiness

I want to yelp and call for help

But I refrain and remain

In my zone

Hoping I might get a bone

Sorry that the drool hits the walls

Some people would be quite appalled

I have to shake for goodness sakes

Not like I can stop it by putting on the brakes

So you ask why do I drool

Well I will tell you, you silly fool

My flew is deep

The drool seeps

That is the pocket that is the junction between the upper and lower lips. This area in my mouth is where the saliva is collected. So it collects and then it overflows at times. It has to go somewhere. I'm not the only breed that this happens to. It is quite common in other breeds too such as Boxers, Mastiffs, St. Bernard's, and others.

If you think I'm bad check out this dog!

So just remember this ...

"Slime flies when you're having fun" & "Spit Happens"

Please Note:

If you have a dog that is not normally a drooler, and he or she starts drooling, this could be an indication of health problems. It is always best to check with your animal care provider.

moonlake, We have a female newf as well and she only drools when food is involved but nothing like what Bruce produces.

Spit happens! Truer words were never spoken. My son's St. Bernard always leaves a little something behind when he goes home ;) Bruce is beautiful and as you know, the bigger they are the more docile and loving. Great poem. Voted up.

Cute poem... I have a friend that has Basset Hounds. I usually walk the three of them during a few days of the week - she works two jobs and doesn't have time. Let's just say - they are really good at spit slinging and I always seem to be right in the way. LOL

fpherj, Loved the movie Turner and Hooch. There was a French Mastiff in Bruce's obedience class that looked like him and drooled the same way :)

Bruce is so cute. We had a 1/2 NewFoundland and 1/2 St. Bernard she was dry mouth never drooled. We were lucky with her. Our old dog is now drooling when he drinks water.

Enjoyed your poem.

Susan......He's so lovable looking.....and this is his salvation, I'm sure, when it comes to his salivation issue!! We have to REALLY love our canine babies to put up with drool.....Did you see Tom Hanks movie Turner and Hootch?.......How could you not love that dog?

Hyphenbird, He's a Mama's. The kisses are a little less sticky than the drool :)

JT, I was thinking the same thing about the Newf in the video. Thanks.

Jools, Bruce has the shoelace thing going on at times too. It hangs out both sides of his mouth and if you don't wipe it before he shakes his head watch out :)

I loved your poem on your fish. Read it yesterday. Thanks.

Bruce is very handsome, this I must say

Even if drooling is how he spends his day

Reading your poem made me laugh and go awwww

He's cute just the same, no matter what comes out of his

jaw!

Voted up and funny. Tell Bruce I sympathize and my cat Sid sends an understanding meow. His problem is that he has large fangs and when Sid yawns he looks like Dracula so he understand other animal's problems. lol

Susan, I enjoyed Bruce's poem and yeah, he's a drooler but he offered a reasoned explanation for it.

I remember in the movie, Turner and Hooch, Tom Hanks tels Hooch ' You look like you're chewing shoelaces' during one of his full on drools.

Really enjoyed this funny poem - I have just written a 'pet' poem about a fish; there must be something in the air :o)

Voted up and shared.

Oh my Gosh I found the funniest hub I've ever read lol, or should I say Drool poem. Wow Susan your full of cool tricks up your digi sleeves. Yet another great nugget to add to my pearl collection.

When I thought I seen and read it all, I guess a surprise of this magnitude comes in the funniest of packages, and yours appears to be canine.

Lovely job! Voted up up up and its outta here. Nice!
