Drugs Took Center Stage

She showed no fears,

when they told her about

the dead old man

at the foot of the stairs,

she had bruises on her head,

and she couldn’t explain her nudity

or the nested clothes

at the bottom of her bed,

then there was a small child

sitting in the corner of the room,

she was all nervous and wild eyed,

she cried and cried,

her teeth would chatter,,

as the detective asked her

what was the matter,

she opened her legs in an odd way,

pointed down,

and that was all she needed to say,

drugs played a part that day,

she sold her daughter to someone so giving,

and she considered that

the only way to make a living,

she started that day off by

wanting to sell herself,

but the old man was looking

for that prize

sitting on the top shelf,

she was underage,

the detective felt the rage,

and in the house,

drugs took the center stage.

You managed to capture the essence of a very troubled society. I was just watching a recent story on the news about the child prostitution epidemic here in the U.S. Between that and the conviction of Sandusky, it sickens me to know the children have continued to be the victims in this animalistic and very narcissistic lust for sex.

Well done Frank, as always. I commend you-you have no fear of exposing the evil that lurks in the heart of man. Rated up and awesome!

This says it all. Bad part is that it's an everyday happening everywhere but a great deal in big cities like N.Y. Also in Europe and right here in Riga. The worst thing about drug abuse here is that it's virtually a new thing to young people 'cause the Communists wouldn't allow it. Communists got everyone numb on vodka. Now they're walking about wild haired, wild eyed and looking for trouble. Like the girl in you poem they mostly never know what hit them once their taken in by the police.

Anything that would cause a parent to sell their child for that horrid act is a thing from the 9th circle of Hell and no one tells the aftermath of the a demon's deed better than this, Frank my friend.

Your poems are definitely of a different caliber---raw and real. They're like a cold slap in the face---unsettling, but, very awakening.

Way up!
