Early Frost.

Early Frost. ©-MFB III

They'd always thought

they would grow old together]

till they were cold together...

buried side by side

 but oh, the cold

it crept in early

 insidiuosly between

the cracks of their smiles

 heated glances now

just chilling glares

words of passion turned

to monotone replies

 bedroom eyes now

haunt the kitchen

banging dishes...

slamming pans...

pseudo couple glaring at

the same leftovers,

boiling on the stove

wanting to taste something new

but too tired to go out

 memories cling like cobwebs

in the crannies of their minds

 no longer strong enough to

brace the weight of a dying love

perhaps he will grow old alone,

and she in her respective world

 will grow old too...

without the sanctuary of

true love cradling them

but always...a large part of them

will ever remain tethered to

 those years of warmth..

before the frost...

long Summers reminisced

We've seen it again and again, excellently depicted here. Thank you, MFB.
