Easter Colors

Easter Colors

The baskets were empty and left alone,

after the Easter egg hunt,

the children had been taken home,

they enjoyed the fairy tale dream,

and they were reluctant

to leave that fairy tale scene,

holding on tight to their Easter eggs and Jelly beans,

it was hard to believe,

their eyebrow raising in surprise

when hearing they had to leave,

but mother’s orders had been explicit,

children, when they became tired,

wired,

were unwanted guests,

to say the least,

they would leave as pampered little beasts,

but their reluctance would be on display,

never wanting to leave,

and always wanting to stay,

they would stomp, shout, then weep,

while stumbling out the door half asleep,

some being carried others being dragged

holding on tight to their goody bags,

with pretty Easter colors and rainbows

imprisoned beneath their eyelids,

and then you grin as their love shows.

Frank - You have so aptly captured little children and Easter, although it could be little children and any holiday or special occasion. They so desperately want to prolong the fun, the excitement, the treats, the sugar...even when they are exhausted and miserable. I remember my three little boys being like that, exactly as you describe them. :) Theresa

Hi Frank, thanks. I went to church on Sunday and from there we went to my sister in laws parents house for an Easter dinner. I gave my nephew his Easter basket and two Easter books. Can you believe he is going to be three years old in May? Unbelievable how quickly time flies. I still remember when the phone rang that day at the hospital when he was born. I love the cute little jean dress on Acee. que belleza.

Hi Frank,

You captured the fun and enthusiasm of children perfectly on those exciting days of finding Easter eggs and jelly beans. A real treat was also finding a chocolate bunny and those cute little marshmallow peeps. You took me back in time with this fun hub. Thanks! Darling photo! Up and beautiful votes.

How sweet. For some of us, that feeling never changes. We just do not show it as much. I have left when I didn't want to go and while the adult outside was put together the little girl in me made her faces.

I loved this poem and the baby is absolutely adorable. Yes it is so much from to watch the children do Easter Egg coloring, Easter egg hunt and seeing them all dressed up. I am a grandmother of three and my grandchildren are so filled with energy, but after awhile they too get tired just as grandma does lol.
