Echo-A Poem

Echo

Voices echo

Bouncing off the walls

Of a haunted prison

Full of fights and brawls.

Too many at once,

Difficult to concentrate

On just one message

Oh but this fate.

Prayers go unanswered,

Minds fall apart

And souls cry

As much as the heart.

Tears fall

Forming a lake

Deep in darkened caves

Full of pain and ache.

Too many at once

They begin to flood

All the cracks and crannies

Oh but this is life hood.

Cries go uncomforted,

People drown

And the innocent die,

There's not a sound.

But oh I can hear everything

As the voices echo

Taking me with them.

I am their tears, I am their souls

And I cry out for help of any kind

To save me, save them, to save mankind.

So much anguish here Crestmoon2007! Great imagery, with the dark caves and the tears flooding and the juxtaposition of the silence and the echoing voices, really haunting.

..yes but it's poetic anguish and that makes it great art from a great writer and I love that picture up above - and this is such a haunting piece of writing and the words of choice are courtesy of an author in touch with her emotions and her craft.
