Endeavor to Pleasure

Source

today I will endeavor to pleasure, me

my own happiness takes precedence

as I make joy my selfish intention

I will seek gratification without guilt or trepidation

and refuse to sleep until I’ve been enraptured

today I will invite my daydreams home for tea

fatten them up on tiny sandwiches and raisin biscuits

till they are drunk with the pleasure of my attention

and willing to whisper their secrets in my ear

just where the moxy is hidden and where the key

today I will stand naked in front of the mirror and smile

pulled from the back of my bottom most drawer

I will slip my desires on over my head

enjoy their silkiness sliding down my torso, then twirl

and let them twist tightly about me

uncaring of your appraisal, will wear them proudly

today my mind will speak its verity

I will sing to the heavens my knowing

no longer cowering beneath your judgment

nor in consideration filter the strength of my voice

but will stand in, dance in, revel in - my truth

you call before my day is under way

fearful and panicked your voice a storm

without thought I tend to your wounded spirit

moulding solutions with calm elocution

hours wrapped around the soul who needs it most

til a sigh released reveals a return to calm

and what of me?

perhaps tomorrow I will endeavor to pleasure

Randy, this is absolutely wonderful writing. It has a calm, a confidence, a liquid character which flows all the way from beginning to end.

This verse is masterly:

"Today I will invite my daydreams home for tea

Fatten them up on tiny sandwiches and raisin biscuis

Till they are drunk with the pleasure of my attention

And willing to whisper their secrets in my ear

Just where the moxy is hidden and where the key"

I love being one of your followers.

Hi Micky, but then I would be obliged to please them.

What a sweet thing to say TL. I very much like the idea of being liquid.

Greeting ahorseback. Yes we are sizing ourselves up and psyching ourselves up.

Useful FF, really? Into a woman's psyche perhaps.

Thanks Tony, wonder why the spell checker didn't catch that?

See I told you I like you with free will...

Your strength of will is what I always liked about you Randy and this poem clearly shows your skill as a exciting writer once again.

Oh BB are you still at odds with my Barbie poem? I am an enigma. I am like the weather in the Pacific Northwest. Wait ten minutes; its all gonna change. The only thing I am not is predictable.

That's the thing Randy, I love the Pacific Northwest, but in that incredible land of unpredictability there are red cedar trees hundreds of years old, incredible singing whales, majestic orcas, exquisite morning mists, and bays and sounds that are glass smooth in the mornings and often tortuous in stormy afternoons, and much like you, there is nothing to never love...my friend :)

Obviously, enjoy the sensual side of life, but then if we look, sensuality is in everything. It works nicely with what you want to say and draws good attention to subtleties that weave themselves into call. Good poetry.

To be free of judgement... that would be an epic goal. (sorry stealing from your other poems).

We let our visions of ourselves, visions for ourselves dissipate in the sludge of other's judgements on us. Free thyself. Revel in your reveal, in your bareness.

I work with young teens, currently young women, and if I could bottle up this sentiment and pass it as the wine at eucharist I would. (Meaning the sentiment that we are good to be ourselves, and let no one take that from us). For they are the ones in need of this knowledge I see you so freely give.

I enjoy this.

I do Arb, most certainly. You are right sensuality is in everything... except math. :)

Well Enigmatic I write this for the girls and for myself then. I tried to write this with confidence but that is just to bolster my self confidence. Act like it, until you are no longer acting.

I got into a University with a 600.00 loan, which I found our about 1 day before going there. I was devastated, my Mom told me "Act as if..." I;ve lived like that since then.

Act as if you have it all, as if you need nothing, as if nothing but confidence lived within you. This has gotten me past and through a lot of things in my life.

My older sister gave me this advise when I opened my first business. She said act like a store owner until you don't feel like your acting. It worked for me. Now I act like poetess :)

Enigmatic Me profile image

Here here... but, you've already got that.. time for a new act? I'd like you to keep writing poetry, but feel you've reached your goal!

Randy Behavior profile image

Randy Behavior 5 years ago from Near the Ocean Author

Maybe I should act like someone who isn't scared to read my stuff in front of an audience :)

Enigmatic Me profile image

Now that would be a new goal...or newly spoken of goal.

Maybe when you do your North American Tour I'll be able to see that... ;)

Whoever called up needing this and that had better deserve it! How dare they muddle your day to endeavor to pleasure. You might just be a fixer, so you're going to set your own issues aside and help someone no matter which way you slice it. But don't forget to take some time just for Randy.

Randy Behavior profile image

Randy Behavior 5 years ago from Near the Ocean Author

Funny you call me a fixer. I had psychic tell me once that in this life I'm a helper, sigh.

It's a wonderful feeling to take the time to spend with oneself, measure and size up our appearance reflecting back to us from the black holed mirror of life. Silk goes well with sensuality and erotica.

Something about it's texture on ones skin, as we drink tea and munch on raisin biscuits on a hot afternoon of pleasures. Lovely poem and rated Up all the way to the top..

Randy Behavior profile image

Thank you for stopping by Saddlerider! Silk and satin always feel like they caress, like gentle fingers trailing on skin. Denim and leather sorta man handle deep into the flesh. I enjoy both.
