Endless is This Night
A Poem By Me
searching through seamless bounds of forgotten text
thinking on subjects lost in time and forgotten
I ponder where this road will take me next
I come here time to time, but far to often
searching like a soul that knows no serious fate
riding out storms that chain down the light
can I go on if I am to remain in this state
oh dearly, and truly, how endless is this night
debating the darkness of each passing star
the chaos for which I am programmed to see
the distance of destiny chimes in through my heart
and falls down upon the emptiness in me
then nightmares and dreams all come haltering still
and reach out across an endless sight
where ghosts dance merely atop yonder hills
oh dearly and faithfully how long is this night
than seeming to drift upon stormy rocks
I fall asleep at life's wheel
the hands of death come streaming in like hands of clocks
and to each finger an embrace of some thrill
I awaken to find, it was in my mind the story unfolded
I leapt to my feet and screamed with some merit of delight
I ran to the mirror and my face set hard and coldened
Oh dearly, and unconventionally how long is this night
