Entwined

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

Entwined endemically,

within the construct of humanity,

I bleed, grasp,

strive for atonement

from the guilt

of innate imperfection.

I drown

in my own fluids,

wallow in self-pity and

self-deprecation.

For I am human,

a leaf of a majestic oak,

riddled with infestation,

rotting from birth,

a slow, tedious demise,

by my own hand,

my ineptitudes,

bending,

swaying life

in a maelstrom

of earthly experience.

Entwined in life,

in people,

and strife,

in misery

and the pain

of knowing,

that I am with fault,

blighted.

I seek that which defines,

elevates me from my

hollowed core,

a reason for covering

my imperfection,

avoiding its influence

so I may attain

without judgement,

mind without regret,

soul without void.

I pray to aspire

more human than I,

less broken than I’ve been.
