Envy

Try to run through my life

Try to break me down

Try to stop me, weigh me back.

Try to hold me down.

You can take everything

Everything I own

You can’t touch my thoughts or dreams

You can’t have my soul.

Who I am is not placed in all these petty things

So take them, burn them, hell you can have them

Possessions are not me

I am my mind and words

I am more than me.

I am not a shallow shell covered in shiny things

Here are the clothes straight off my back, throw them in the pile

And as you laugh as you watch them burn, I’m laughing at your smile.

You wanted everything thing I had, all my pretty things

But you’re the fool to envy things that have no hold on me.

JLCLose: Thank you, I think the best compliment that you can give someone’s writing is saying you feel a connection, and it makes me so happy that you do!

arb: Hey there! Thanks for reading, and yes I feel as if in the last year I have come to know myself, and it really does feel great:)

Excellent stuff Sarah Writes. I really like it. Like you say you are not all of these other things and possessions in your life and you express that so well.

Michael.
