The Words

I thought of posting this Hub after reading Chaotic Chica's Thieving Cherries. It is another page from my book, Eyes of Forgotten Innocence, and I hope it move you to look into the subject of Child Internet Safety a little more.

Soft, the cry of a voice in the desert

Tarrying in the inimical night

Only a lackluster glow on the horizon

Latent memories of safety

Even during the storm

Now only a distant hope

I held out my hand

No hand reached back

Numbness overtook her mind

Over and over she gave herself

Cravings of an old scratch gave her no choice

Even when presented, the chance not taken

Never could she take the chance

Certain retribution would come

Each choice leading deeper into obscurity.

Do you?

Do you know a victim of sexual abuse?

Do you for sure?

If you said 'No', are you absolutely sure? (Hint: Absolutely no one can say Yes to this question.)

You did a fantastic job with this piece. Beautifully written and emotionally evocative. Well done!

And thank you for the 'shout out', too. It's very much appreciated.

I've seen the haunted look in friend's eyes and felt the lack of trust. At first, I had no idea what the problem was, but as the years go on and I see it in more and more people, I begin to understand. They can't take a chance.

These are the words many would like to be able to express. Well done!

It's why I wrote them. I hope more people will read them so less eyes embrace that look.

Thanks for the comments!
