Faith, Sweet Faith. A Soulful Homage to Faith Reaper by Manatita

"Faith is wisdom.
Faith is power.
Faith is heart-fragrance.
Faith is the sun-child
Of the Beyond."- Sri Chinmoy, #33, No unreachable Goal, Agni Press, 1994.

On the Elysian lap of Faith, I sojourn,

Tunnel seemingly without Light.

I walk along a labyrinth with the firm conviction,

That I’ll find my way home.

With strong resolve; inspired by the voice of the unseen,

I march undaunted to the shores of immortality.

O beauty non-pareil, how sweet Thy presence:

This secret beckoning of a lantern in my heart,

Guide this piercing ray,

To a vision of the beyond.

Let me be unfolded by Your Grace,

In this land of majesty,

Awake to the evidence of things not seen,

To be Your prodigal Sun.

The stars, the moon, the cosmos call me.

They are all dancing in my heart.

“Come, come! O child of the eternal,

Let us rise with the radiant beauty of the horizon,

To the pinnacle of a golden dawn.”

Ah! How sweet their entreaties,

The melody of their soothing call!

I feel as one elevated,

The veil of darkness erased,

By an unflinching Faith.

Drunk deep with the rhapsody of this wine divine,

I rest serene, in the presence of Her Sovereignty.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:Not of works, lest any man should boast." -Ephesians 2: 8-9.

Faith in words and pictures

"Faith is the eye that visions the future, and it is always in tune with a higher Truth. The door of faith is always open to the Truth beyond, and by virtue of faith, we transcend ourselves."-Sri Chinmoy.

Faith comes from spontaneous inner joy. When we aspire for a deeper meaning to life; when the quest for inner fulfilment deepens, then one gradually acquires an unshakeable belief in a Higher Truth. The Soul already has a fore knowledge of this Reality, and it is only a matter of time, at God's Hour, one might say, that the other members of the human psyche - heart, mind, vital and body - , becomes permeated with this essential inner message from the Soul.

Faith can move mountains!

"Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done.-Matthew, 21.V21. (NIV)

I have told this story to some friends, about the night when I was almost attacked. I heard a loud and threatening noise behind me, and when I looked around, I saw a young man, perhaps no more than 21 yrs old, approaching me. He was shouting that I had been looking at him and wanted to know why. As he got closer, I could see a menacing look in his face, and I felt an urge to apologise, which I did. This did not work. He got within six feet of me, put his hand into his pocket and I felt an impending sense of doom.

Very quickly, and right where I stood in the street, I folded my hands in prayer, looked up to the sky and started chanting the word 'Supreme' very fast and very loud. When I looked in his direction 30-45 seconds later, he was walking backwards with a strange look on his face, then turned around and disappeared. I could swear that I also heard a voice talking to him as well.

So my friends, this is the power of Faith. Sri Chinmoy had told us how to invoke God in such situations and I remembered, did it and it worked.

"What is our faith? Our faith is our inner cry for God’s Light and Bliss in infinite measure. Our faith is God’s transcendental Smile, which transforms our life and carries us from the sea of ignorance to the sea of wisdom. Our inner faith in God constantly helps us to run the fastest and constantly makes God run toward us in the fastest possible way. Because God’s speed is far greater than our speed, when we take one step toward God we see that God has taken ninety-nine steps toward us. Then we meet together."- Sri Chinmoy.

Manatita ~ you have this knack for putting the Power of the Spirit in words easy to comprehend, and that is such a blessing. Your phrases in the poem like "The veil of darkness erased, By an unflinching Faith" makes the experience of faith so lucid. Sometimes it takes ordeals for us to see the essence of God's goodness, but your words captivate the light that He shines constantly on us. Thank you again for the joy of your inspiration. I have also read some of Faith Reaper's works and your words to her are quite fitting. I'm sure she is pleased with this beautiful dedication as I was with mine.

Your lovely tribute to our Faith Reaper and to Faith itself is inspiring and worth re-reading. I'm sort of doubly out of commission right now, but so glad to get to see this!

My lovely Friend, so good to see you!

Just returned from the US and so catching up, mostly. There are a few people - you included of course - who I wanted to write too, but then I felt that perhaps I could put the experience on paper as a Hub. Not quite ready.

So sorry that I could not see you. My Sis has real problems and that was my main reason for spending quality time with her. Secondly, you were a little too far for my short space of time there.

You dropped by even with your poor condition! I feel for you, but you know what, I'm empathising with you even as I write. My fingers are painful too.

God bless, my Dear, and may all be well with you soon. Hugs.

Hello Dear Manatita,

Thank you so much for this beautiful hub here! We had a long weekend here in the US with the Labor Day holiday and with all the grands up too. Whew ... I apologize for the late comment here, but I am so blessed always when reading your lovely words and poetry from the heart.

I am humbled by your words. I am also thrilled that you have written on the "Good Word" of faith too, as many are here in HP Town. It seems the longer we go through this life, we are having to place our full faith in Him, and He always works things out for the best, even when we may not see it at the time of great trail.

So glad you are back writing at full steam it seems, and I have much to catch up with here.

God bless you always

Great One, Labour day. I have celebrated in Brooklyn a few times in the past. Dad was an American citizen and I once had a Green Card.

Yes, Faith is important to me. I've some more on Faith here, I'm sure. Good to see you, my Sweet. Much love as always.

Without faith in something, we have nothing. The darkness will fall and the light will dissipate to the days before time.

Dear Manatita, yes, I simply had to visit your hubs. So very sorry your hands are painful too. You're so kind to be concerned about mine, and thankfully mine is improving a lot from wearing the brace, especially at night, and also by doing a few simple self-massages which take only 4 minutes per session and really help. Other than tingling and numbness, I've no symptoms now.

But 2 days after the death of my granddaughter while watering the yard, I did take a tumble. You've been to Texas and saw how necessary it is to water. My fall scraped my left leg and bruised my left side/lowest rib. The scrape was not deep and is almost healed already, but the bruise has been quite painful. However I went to the doctor today where some x-rays were taken which showed NO fractures. That had been my greatest concern, that I might be doing things that would worsen it if there had been a break. So other than pain, it's not too serious. I never take pain meds, but this time am making an exception. There's just no position that doesn't increase the pain, but the med the doctor prescribed will ease it. I just won't overdo that.

The other good news is that I can expect it to be healed in another couple of weeks. So I'm so thankful for the relief and good prospects for healing.

Prayers are answered and faith is powerful.

Very sorry to hear, Nellieanna, and praying for a speedy recovery. Vit C in large doses is excellent. 1G x 3 daily; garlic ... Anti-inflamatories are good at this time but are prescribed meds: Ibuprofen etc. Take what doc gives with lots of water and food. Praying for your recovery.

This is so beautiful. Manatita. You chose a wonderful lady to dedicate this poem to.

I love reading and learning about Sri Chinmoy through you. What a powerful teacher he still is though he be on a much higher level now.

Have I experienced Faith in my life? Many times. The one I remember most is when I held my three year old son in my arms all night as I felt the life energy flowing from him. I started praying for his healing. He awoke and said, "Mommy, if I die, please take me out to the ocean. Do not bury me in the ground." He had severe asthma and the thought of being in the ground suffocated him. I promised I would do as he wished then prayed harder. I felt Angels all around us, Manatita. By morning my son was much stronger and able to sip the chicken broth I fed him. He is now 49 and is a very healthy man with strong Faith.

Thank you, Dear and Beloved Bard
