Fall is Finally Here - Poem
Rocking in my overstuffed recliner
Watching the downfall of so many leaves
Through the slightly cracked living room window.
Short pants are in the closet
Replaced by long sleeves and socks,
Wearing a lapgan because the crisp air gives me a bite.
Sipping hot apple cider keeps the cool sting away and
Helps to wash down a
Pumpkin muffin with cream cheese.
My dog must be cold.
She scratches my leg
Wanting her place as my lapwarmer.
How many candy bars will satisfy
The munchkins knocking on my door
In just a few short weeks?
Mums and pansies
Hay bales and gourds
Welcome fall to my front door.
My sweetie's favorite team
Plays football today.
Time to start
A pan of cornbread and
A pot of black bean chili.
With pleasure, I say
Fall is finally here.
