Fallen...a poem of solace
By Tony DeLorger © 2013
And so becomes, the truth unfurled,
when guises find their end,
and once thought love a tarnished pearl,
of grit no heart commends.
When veils fall and naked stand,
intentions dressed in lies,
it is a heart of trust that falls from grace,
despair, disillusioned eyes.
But failure as it seems at start,
can only drive an unsteady heart,
in truth the ending renews, begins,
a life set free from evil whims.
For many hide from their very selves,
the lurking, twisted secrets held,
desires born of wretched hate,
and the wrongs so thought of past restraint.
And when love is chosen for need and want,
the festered truth and plans respond,
in kind the very basest self,
confronting all who dare to dwell.
And in that tirade, the self revealed,
the wretched artful control and ill,
destroys what love could ever be,
in sadness potential cannot be seen.
And so becomes a strangled love,
born of all so far removed,
from kindness and a friendship moved,
into a hateful self, infused.
People generally hide behind what they think they are, not what they really are. So, when the real self emerges it is so often a shock. Always remember,'if someone shows you who they really are, believe them'. Because in the end, few people can change from their darkest past and experiences. They leave an imprint that requires a great deal of work to overcome; and few people are brave enough to challenge their true nature.
