Flowers In My Soul

God turned on the garden hose,
the faucet into my soul...
rushing from His spigot
Living waters made me whole...
A river gushed into my heart,
this dry and dust bowl...
Yes, God unleashed a river
into the depths of my parched soul.

God sent rain in buckets
into the desert of my soul...
life sustaining waters that
revived and did console...
Withered ground now thriving
in a way both sweet and droll,
Yes, God watered my garden
and now there's flowers in my soul.

I knew that He could do it...
mend my weary, empty soul.
I'd been told quite often
of the Powers in His control...
I didn't for a moment think
That I deserved His dole...
But God surely did fool me,
Put His sprinkler in my soul.

There's music and there's dancing
in the garden of my soul...
The atmosphere is pleasant
No signs of glum parole...
Withered ground now thriving,
in all ways sweet and droll,
Yes, God watered my garden...
and dainty flowers don my soul.

Thank you, Bill...this is one poem that wrote itself...straight from the Top. I heard it said, one time, "Great is the joy of the rescued..." Yup...that"s me, in more ways than one!

You've done it again! What a beautiful expression of God's love for his children, reminds me so of the inspirational poetry of Catherine Marshall.

The power of faith can and will move mountains. I to was once broken and now I am partially whole, I am patient as I wait for the flowers to also enter my soul. God does this on his time not ours, miracles happen when we least expect them to in our lives.

Thank you for singing to our souls, this brilliant verse should be put to music. I heard the bells of St Mark's Tower in the distance. hugs

saddlerider1, today is a soggy day for me, tears seem close to the surface, and I teared up at your comment.

I truly did not think that it was possible to find flowers in my soul...it is a miracle in my world...funny thing, though...I see beautiful flowers in yours, my friend! (((sr)))

Marina Lester 5 years ago

This made me think of a few trips I've taken deep into the country, of some stays I had that felt like magic when I was a child. Like I was a guest of Anne of Green Gables, or Peter Rabbit. And when I see these sights now I feel a warmth, a glow like summer sun in my very soul as I am transported to those feelings of innocents, of beautiful divine wonder... of God's gardens... I know your poem had a different meaning, but this is what was brought out of me, and it made me happy so thank you...
