Flying Along With Love

She tried always so hard

To let him know that she cared

To get him to love her

The way that she loved him

But she’d chosen a loner

A man who loved to roam

He seemed content to love her

But left time and time again

When he would be away

Her heart would ache for him

And she wished that she could fly to his side

Just on the energy of her love alone

When he smiled the skies were blue

And her heart would race

He never looked back

And he never thought about it twice

Figuring that she would be waiting

When he returned time and time again

She longed for him

And the nights

Would always seem so long

How she wished she had wings

Just to fly to him

How she wished she had the courage

To follow behind him

But she kept silent

And kept on loving him

It was he that changed with time

How odd he would think

That he missed her

Missed her smile

Missed her telling him that she loved him

And it dawned on him

Suddenly and surprisingly

That her hair reminded him of sunsets

And her eyes of the bluest of blue skies

As time has gone on

As his work has taken him

From place to place

He had taken her for granted

Knowing that she always waited

And when realization came knocking

It took his breath away

He also wondered

Why, she was always there

And suddenly he was scared

Finally she came to think

That loving her was not

Enough for him

As much as she wanted him

For now and for a lifetime

She didn’t want time

To pass her by

Leaving her alone and lonely

So sadly she made plans

Plans to go away

To heal with time

And find a love who would love her too

With racing heart he flew

Back to the woman

Who was and had been

In his heart all along

He raced to her side

And when he opened the door

He saw the suitcases

And knew he had almost been too late

Then she was there

With wide eyes

And a hopeful smile

And he hugged her and kissed her

Glad he had woken up

Before love had flown

Love the ending! I thought sure he would find her gone! Great choice of songs, too. Voted up!

Another delightful heart felt poem. I can feel the need of so many women who are wishing that the message in your poem would come true for them. A lovely theme.

Graham.

Sadly, the ending does not reflect my reality. I just returned from a vacation with a man i've known for 15 years - and once loved dearly, wishing he could love me the same way...

8 days in paradise is always a good reminded of why he can't..lol

Your optimistic outlook gives me hope Rasma, but come ON now - time's a runnin' out..

LOL

Glad you enjoyed this and the song which inspired Ann.

I do believe there are so many women who should be appreciated and just aren't and sometimes it can be too late Graham.

So nice to hear that my poems give you a great start to your day Bill.

Yes, actually Blossom he should have found her gone.

Happy endings are the best Jo.

Leslie never give up. A beautiful and vibrant lady like you definitely has a man waiting for her somewhere out there in the world. Hugs.

Glad you enjoyed this Manatita.

Glad my poems make you happy btrbell.
