For My Lover

With the faint sound

of hooting owls

in the distant woods

on a night

lit by candlelight

amidst the fragrant scent of magnolia

in the damp evening air...

My fingers

gently touch

your face

as you draw near

to look into my glazed eyes

longing for devotion

mesmerised by beauty

at a spiritual level

Feeling love and desire

burning like fire

consuming you

like heat to wax

but this time

you see a glimpse

of your soul reflected

as you fix your eyes

on the mirror of my mind

there to find truth

so clear

and the joys and sorrows

of yesteryear

Now you may have peace

now you cease to seek

that which has eluded you -

a most natural union

made not in heaven

but found here on earth

living together

entwined as one

under the moonlight

of a starry night

synchronised

in love.

Very nicely written! It flows so well and I am fairly jealous that I can't write poetry as beautiful as this.

@ billybuc - thank you for your kind comment. When I write my poetry - it's as though I am taking dictation from my heart. Anyone can do it really. Just let the contents of your heart guide your pen.

Your words for your lover are embraced by many men who are desirous of such a fragrance of magnolia and the gentle touch awarded them by a woman with such beauty and glazed eyes piercing his heart and soul on a spiritual level that you impose.

His love in return will be given and together the melting wax from each others passion will ultimately reward them both. Mind, spirit and soul. Like a mirror indeed both their reflections will search the truth of their existence and all their joys and sorrows of both their yesteryears.

The harmony of both partners in love deeply combined with their living souls will entwine their love forever under a very starry starry heaven like nothing they've ever experienced before, for time indeed will cease to exist for these two lovers who have found their twin.

My dear poet your work is brilliant and your gifts to your followers and readers will always be welcomed. May you find peace, love and happiness and the lover of your dreams who is out there somewhere in time. Peace and blessings to you Maria D'Alessandro.

@ Poetic Fool - thank you for commenting. Sometimes a special love presents itself to a man out of nowhere but alas, he is too blind to see.
